Claridge Hotel Madrid

"Really lovely hotel. Staff were always friendly and helpful with any questions or requests we had. The location is good, yes there is a lot of construction going on outside the hotel but it did not bother us being in a city location and pacifico metro station is only a short 5-6 minute walk and from there you can take the direct line 1 into the centre of Madrid. The reception staff were really helpful in explaining this to us and providing a map (I'm sorry I didn't get anyone's names!). The free WiFi was also reliable and shown to us at reception. We particularly enjoyed the swimming pool area, especially given how hot the weather in Madrid currently is! You are able to order food/drinks here which was nice. It was a peaceful place to relax after wandering the city, although we do feel there could be a few more sunbeds put in to allow more people to enjoy the facilities. You can also request towels at reception which was great as we did not have to pack these in our luggage. The hotel in general and the room was very clean and well equipped. A kettle/iron was delivered upon request which was useful for us. The beds were not the most comfortable in the world but perfectly fine for a few days away. We also really appreciated the option of a late check out. This made things much smoother for us with an evening flight and was not much extra to pay (€20 until 3pm or €40 until 6pm- of course this is subject to availability but worth considering if you are in a similar position! We did not try the bar or restaurant and stayed on a room only basis. I am sure it would have been lovely given the standard of the rest of the hotel. Overall we had a great time and would not hesitate in recommending the hotel. Our only slight issue is we were charged something from the mini bar (€3) even though we had not used it. This only became apparent after payment and being given a copy of the invoice, at first we did not really notice as we had had drinks at the pool several times. This was a little disappointing but as it was only a small amount we did not bother to go back and query it."

"The hotel itself is fine for what it is, albeit not near anywhere, but also not far from anywhere. Rooms/bathrooms a decent size. Restaurant not great in terms of food options. My main reason for choosing was that it had a large commercial gym attached to the hotel, which was great for keeping up fitness. But the hotel is right on a giant roundabout with massive construction taking place from 7am-8pm so all you will hear is machinery beeping loudly and drilling, so I really can't recommend on this basis!"
