Grand Hyatt Lanzarote Playa Dorada Resort

"We had a great stay at Dreams Lanzarote ( now Grand Hyatt) as a family this past week . While there is certainly room for improvement , overall I would say it’s a great hôtel and we enjoyed our stay . First of all , all the staff we encountered were helpful and friendly - special mention to Ariadna at reception who was so great with our twin daughters, and Yaza ( sorry if misspelled ) who was in charge of the omelette station at the buffet . The hotel was spotlessly clean and our room cleaned daily and our mini fridge replenished daily as well ( all inclusive ). The room was spacious and comfortable - with comfy duvet and pillows , and nice bathroom . The view we were given was probably one of the worst of the hotel (4105) seeing the construction materials and boxes of supply for the hotel , skip etc , but we did not spend much time in the room so it did not bother us too much. The food was very good in the buffet and à la carte restaurant ( the Italian ) was especially good - Himitsu had very limited options for my allergies so I unfortunately did not have a main meal there. The pool were nice and warm - my two daughters loved the the pool with the slides and we spent a lot of time there . The hotel is very well located between the marina and the “town” and it was easy to walk back and forth . The reasons why we would not consider coming back : The entertainment for children and adults is not what we would expect - while the ladies leading the mini disco every night were really great - it was only for 30 minutes and the rest of the day there was limited entertainment for children . There is a kid’s club , but there was often no other children there . The evening entertainment I think was a hit and miss - and I’m sure it might cater to a different audience. We felt like there were limited snack options outside the restaurant opening times , which most all inclusive provide . However there are shops close by Overall we had a good stay and the staff was great - quality of food and rooms definitely high standards but the entertainment was not up to our expectations"

"We enjoyed a 10 day break in this hotel. The holiday was a relaxing few days away as a chill out holiday. The hotel was just what we needed, peace and quiet as it was not peak time. The room was very well comfortable and clean, as it was cared for by 3 groups of service people, 1 for mini bar and drinks, another for bed and tidying and 1 for turning the sheets down at night ( and leaving some chocs!). We booked the preferred category and for this we enjoyed extra services like lunch time "preferred lounge" with food and drink available, and also the free mini bar was restocked at no cost per day. We found the Customer service staff Agnes and Marta extremely helpful and friendly, and the restaurant staff were also very friendly and accommodating, particularly Jhon G and Daniela. We found the swimming pools and surrounding areas clean and restful. We booked half board which was sufficient for us. The restaurants were very clean, and the varied food availability was very good, with themed menus which were very good. To finish the holiday we found a bottle of Cava and a very nice letter thanking us for our custom and hoping we would come back, which we definitely will! "There is absolutely no way this is 5 star and I work for one of the package providers and will be passing this feedback up the chain. The rooms are really pokey and small, the housekeeping staff have been pretty rude and not refilled my mini bar properly or even emptied the bins. My son is autistic - He sometimes needs to come back to the room for some downtime and god forbid he came back when the housekeeper wanted to make the beds. In other hotels, we’ve been given a bed guard. We’ve had to ask for additional hangers and feel very closed in. The food is bad, really bad. We went to the grill restaurant today and I had tough grilled pork with no flavour and literal crisps on the side and my son’s burger was burnt (there are no kids menus either). My husband and mother had the steak and it was inedible, ended up taking my child down the road to Burger King. The buffet is ok, it’s not the best at all. The park area isn’t coveted and is in the sun all day so the slide is rendered useless as it’s red hot, you can’t even move the umbrellas, The pools are freezing as well. I’ve not found the kids club but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s in the sun too with no shade. Advertised as a family friendly hotel but the entertainment so far has been really poor, classical singing and 90’s Mariah, the bar staff are attentive then stop coming over, I asked twice for a drink and he took a Spanish ladies order over mine and still got it wrong. Every time we go to reception, we’re told something different, the app is difficult to use, the only positive I have is that it smells nice. All the names of the restaurants are wrong and have different names ie NAO is world cafe, it’s really confusing. The lift keeps breaking, it’s working right now but let’s see how long that lasts, they are really old and rickety. I’m really disappointed tbh, I expected a lot better and I don’t think I’ll ever be back."
