"We arrived late due to a delay and were welcomed by very polite staff who directed us to the restaurant before finding our room.
The food laid on for late arrivals was poor and gave us an idea of what to expect during our eleven-night stay.
Our room was at the back of the complex, above the outside bar on the second floor; we knew in advance about the lift situation, but it was still a huge surprise that no bell boys were on hand to assist guests in dragging their luggage up to the top floor. Anyone less able than we would certainly struggle, and we are in our mid-sixties.
The room itself was huge, very clean, and comfortable; the balcony gave us a great view of the pool area and virtually the whole complex, except for the premium side.
The pool area itself was great; the pool was cold when first entering, otherwise it was ok. The sunbed situation was a bit bad, with people placing out towels during the night and before sunrise to guarantee their place, when we were told by staff that sunbeds were not to be reserved before 10 am unless you were using them, and that towels would be removed if that were the case. We never witnessed this during our stay and found that people reserved beds very early but never used them until mid-afternoon. (One family reserved 5 beds per day in a nice location and used them for about an hour in the afternoon).
The restaurant, this was light, airy and clean but very warm and lacked air con. It was not a comfortable place to go for a nice relaxing meal.
The food: breakfasts were good with a nice selection of fruits, cereals and breads; the grill was rarely manned and waiting to get eggs of any description was sometimes very frustrating.
Lunch started very good with fresh pastas and paella, but by day three this had been reduced to fish fingers and chips, etc at an adults-only site with is unacceptable.
Evening meals, albeit themed most nights, were a poor mismatch of foods and a grill that was manned off and on, leaving queues, and the food on the hot plates had to be constantly replenished due to the small amounts placed out, again leaving queues.
The entertainment team, in the main, were good and hard-working, especially Jay, who only arrived at the same time as us but slipped into his role really well. They worked hard to get people involved with the daily program and were well supported by the younger guests who basically took over the running of the event, meaning most of the other guests were ignored.
The evening entertainment, other than the live groups and singers, was the poorest and most childish we have ever witnessed. The games were entered into by the younger guests again; these seemed so embarrassing and quite pathetic.
The bar staff, both at the pool bar and in the entertainment room, worked so hard and were so friendly and were a credit to the hotel; they did everything to make our holiday special.
The TUI rep was poor and less than helpful, and during the introduction meeting spoke so fast and could not keep still, making it difficult to take anything in. When we spoke to him outside the meeting, he was rude and unhelpful.
We loved the hotel and the location; it was close to bars, shops and restaurants. We loved the staff but would not return because of the food and entertainment."
