"Repeat visitors and I have reviewed the hotel before.
We had another 10 night stay in June - our 4th time staying in The Level and our 7th time at the hotel overall.
Check-in was quick and efficient. Staff (not the "floor walkers") were excellent in all transactions. We find the hotel to be so relaxing, specifically The Level lounge - so nice to sit taking in the view in a relaxed environment with a good choice of snacks and drinks to choose from. Our room was as comfortable and clean as previous stays - no concerns there.
Observations and comments compared to previous stays:
Changes to the Cape Nao menu are disappointing. Reduced options and price point is too high for the offerings. On previous visits we would go to Cape Nao every lunchtime but this time we went just once as we were disappointed with options available. We walked into town on every other day. I think this is the decision taken by a lot of other guests - it used to be a busy, vibrant spot around lunch time but it was so quiet every time we walked by. A shame.
We visited in June 2025 and had issues with flies on the rooftop (see review from that time) and sadly had the same issues in June 2026. I know its nature and the hotel told us "it was seasonal and due to the sea" but I found it strange that only the rooftop pool area was affected. We went up there on our first full day and as a result had red spots on our legs, arms and bodies to show off for the rest of our stay. We would seriously have to think about booking for the month of June again as the rooftop is part of the price you pay for The Level exclusive access but during the day time it was unusable in our opinion.
The hotel has management representatives/floor walkers around the hotel most days. Twice we were asked if we were enjoying our stay and if we had any comments. We mentioned the issue with the rooftop, and also the sunbed reserving going on at the main pool. Twice our room number was taken and twice we were promised an update and promise of some sort of compensation but nothing until our penultimate day. And the offer was use of a Bali Bed.........on the rooftop. Just what we wanted - another set of bites on the day before we were due to go home. If you are employing staff to engage with customers then they need to deal efficiently with conversations that they have and in my opinion the staff employed for this role fall short of Melia standards.
All this being said, we are due to return in September as the positives outweigh the negatives.
Just a mention for Alex who is always so cheery helping with customer luggage etc; Christina and Marianne who looked after us so well at The Level breakfast and of course Racquel who we feel has looked after us since our first visit to this hotel - all staff are excellent but just wanted a special mention for these staff members.
We will look forward to revisiting in September and would recommend this hotel to anyone considering it - you can overlook some of the points raised; its a beautiful, relaxing location."
