"We’ve just got back the most wonderful holiday , and we already can’t wait to come back! From the moment we arrived, everyone made us feel so welcome. The hotel is spotlessly clean, beautifully kept, and has such a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Every member of staff went above and beyond to make our stay special. A huge thank you to George and Nick, who truly made our holiday unforgettable. They were so kind, generous , and accommodating, and they absolutely adored our little girl, Daisy. Seeing how much they cared for her made our holiday even more special, and she still talks about them and how much she misses them. They make this place without a doubt, she loves her George and Nick. But all staff were amazing and we could not fault their hospitality. The hotel is perched on quite a steep hill, so be prepared for a bit of a climb, but don’t let that put you off—it’s 100% worth it. At the bottom is a beautiful, unspoilt beach where the locals swim, giving it such an authentic and peaceful feel. It also has a restaurant/bar that’s reasonable. We took a towel and umbrella and enjoyed the beach for what it was. The nearby village of Gerani is lovely, and again untouched feeling very authentic with four fantastic tavernas that are all well worth a visit. We enjoyed every meal there. It’s a walk though! If you fancy exploring, there’s a bus to Rethymno every three hours for just €2.20 each way, you can get bus tickets from their supermarket (this is convenient and reasonably priced for every day essentials) It’s a fun, slightly bumpy ride and a great way to see more of the area without spending much. You can do taxi for €13 there and €15 back but be careful of harbour with their ‘complimentary’ because they are chargeable. Camari Gardens is one of those places that makes you feel at home with people returning again and again 20 + years. The warmth of the staff, the peaceful setting, and the genuine hospitality made this a holiday we’ll never forget. Thank you to everyone for making such wonderful memories for our family. "We've just returned from an amazing 10 night family holiday in Gerani, Crete, and all I can say is this hotel is an absolute gem! It's a family run hotel that is spotlessly clean, beautifully maintained, and has such a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Every member of staff was friendly, attentive, and genuinely couldn't do enough for you. Nothing was ever too much trouble. The hotel has two lovely, clean swimming pools, and best of all, there were no sunbed wars! There was always plenty of space to relax. We stayed in a spacious two bedroom apartment with a balcony, which had everything we needed for a comfortable self-catering stay. There's also a well stocked supermarket just outside the hotel, making it easy to pick up all the essentials and much more. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis, and the breakfast served each morning in the on-site restaurant was excellent. There was a wide variety of fresh, tasty options to suit everyone. Just a short walk from the hotel is a beautiful pebble and sandy cove beach with a lovely taverna next door, serving delicious food at very reasonable prices. The hotel's own restaurant also serves food throughout the day, offering everything from toasties and snacks to delicious home-cooked meals, all at great value. A short stroll up the hill takes you into the village of Gerani, where you'll find several traditional tavernas. We tried them all during our stay, and every meal was fresh, authentic, and absolutely delicious. There's also a bus stop right outside the hotel, with tickets available to buy from the supermarket. The buses can take you to nearby villages or into the beautiful town of Rethymno. We also took a taxi, which cost just €13 each way and took around 20 minutes. Rethymno is well worth a visit, with its charming harbour, fantastic restaurants, cafés, and plenty of shops to explore. Overall, we had an unforgettable holiday with our two children and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this wonderful hotel. We also met several guests who have been returning year after year, which really says it all. It's a truly special place, and we can absolutely see why so many people come back. We certainly hope to return ourselves!"

"We stayed here for 10 nights, July 2026 Myself, Wife, Daughter (12) and Son (16). I will always write an honest review whenever we stay somewhere, so here goes. From the moment we arrived there was no hanging around, we were shown straight to our room (110). Main area had two bed / sofa beds, table, tv, sink, fridge, kettle, microwave and two hobs and was quite spacious. There was a bedroom with two single beds pushed together and a dressing table with mirror and a large wardrobe that lead straight on to a balcony. Bathroom was nice, but a little small, but worked ok for us and had glass sliding doors. I think some appartments have shower curtains so can be a pain with flooding, but ours was fine. There were two pools, which were very clean and tidy, only gripe would be that when its busy they get quite overcrowded. We always found somewhere to sit (Mainly at the bottom pool) There was a games area for kids in the main Reception, which had Air hockey, Pool table and Table tennis. Bar area was a nice size inside and had plenty of tables, with more tables ouside. My only issue with the inside tables was that they are quite small for 4 or more people to sit together, so we used two between four when not busy. Food and drinks were very good, we booked bed and breakfast and the breakfast was nice, with a selection of fried or boiled eggs, baked beans (English) sausage, bacon (Greek) cold meats, cheese, bread, cereal etc. The bar and hotel staff were amazing and very helpful and freindly. My only gripe on this would be that maybe they could have a few water dispensers located around the Bar, Reception and pool area free of charge, to top up bottles or cups with water. The other residents were very friendly and we found it to be a very close nit community, with alot of people going here for over 30 years, so that just goes to show how nice it is. This place is very calm, relaxing and quiet, so dont expect club land and laods of party people. Area: There is a little supermarket next door to the hotel and sell everything you would need for self catering etc. Down the road is a small cove / beach area, sorrounded by cliffs, so good for kids if you want shade. The beach is a mix of sand and pebbles / Rocks, so i would make sure you have water shoes. Next to the beach is a small chapel and restaurant, which fairly priced. There is a small village up the hill from the hotel, which has several restaurants and a supermarket. The staff and local residents around that area are very friendly and helpfiul. There is a bus outside the hotel which will take you up to the village, but you buy your bus ticket from the supermarket next to the hotel. The bus will also take you to Rethymno or Chania etc, with a timetable in Reception. We hired a car, which cost us 40 euros per day and went to other parts of the area. Reception can sort the car hire for you. Taxis to Rethymno are 13 euros each way. The area around the hotel is very hilly, so if you struggle with walking, then this is maybe not the place for you, unless you only plan on staying on the hotel grounds or taking a bus / hire car. Places we visited include Preveli Beach (Not for the unfit or bad walkers) Kourtaliotikos Gorge (Not for the unfit or bad walkers and water is like - 6) Lake kournas Boja Beach Bar Rethymno (old and new town) Chania (old town) - pesonal opinion Rethymno is better and closer. Hope this review helps people out, as we know ourselves how difficult it is to choose a place on reviews only, but be reasured this was a great holiday for our family and we would return in the furture 100%."
