An all-inclusive retreat overlooking the Atlantic
The family fun never stops at the Hotel Rio Gran Canaria – a 24 hour all-inclusive wonderland near the shores of Maspalomas.
Dive into a whopping six outdoor pools, including a kids’ pool with slides and one just for adults next to the seafront promenade. For little ones there’s Riu Land Kids’ Club, a playground, and a friendly animation team on hand throughout the day. Grown-ups, meanwhile, get their own daytime entertainment programme, and a wellness centre with relax pool, steam room and other facilities to help chill you out.
You’re well served when it comes to delicious cuisine, too. Seven restaurants – ranging from Asian and Italian to gourmet delights and sizzling steak – ensure the whole family’s well fed. Plus, there are six bars dotted around the premises, including one by the pool, a sports bar, and another where you can sip a cocktail while taking in sweeping views of the surrounding seascape.
Prefer to get active? Work up a sweat at the gym, head to the multi-sports court for a spot of friendly competition or get your body moving thanks to the RIU Fit programme. There are no limits to what you can do here.

Find out more about Maspalomas
Along part of the shore is Maspalomas’s star attraction: 400 hectares of stunningly beautiful, desert-like dunes that have been protected as a nature reserve for 30 years. Nature plays a big part on holidays to Maspalomas, with dolphin- and whale-watching among the standout excursions on offer, giving you the chance to marvel at these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat.
Elsewhere, Playa del Ingles (Englishman’s Beach) is a popular spot, just a short walk east from Maspalomas (and cheap taxi ride on the way back), known for its lively pub and fun nightclub scene. There’s plenty in and around Maspalomas to keep everyone happy.
