Gloria Palace Amadores Thalasso and Hotel

"Big rooms, comfy beds, amazing views. Fantastic infinity pools, brilliant kids' activities, really excellent food. BUT.......2 of the 3 rooms booked on different floors had lots of small cockroaches scurrying about the floors and beds - 3 large ones were seen in the corridors and restaurant. The odd large cockroach, fine, we're in a hot climate, but 2 rooms with literally loads - no. One group was relocated, quickly and efficiently and the other room was fumigated after repeated requests. We still had a brilliant holiday, but disappointingly, could never recommend this hotel."

"We have just spent a week at Gloria Palace as a family of 4, 11 month old baby and 4.5 year old. As a family hotel we found this hotel not very family friendly. There is no area designated for children's food, no plastic cutlery or plates. Both swimming pools are very deep for children both being 1.5m deep. The children's disco starts far too late for young children and doesn't start until around 8.30pm. However, as an adult perspective the hotel is very clean, food is average neither bad or great. What lets this hotel down is the very unfriendly staff, they do not greet you with a smile or say hello. From memory there was 1 waitress and a maintenance man that were very friendly, as for the others you get the impression they do not want to be there. On checkout we had a late flight, you have to ask on the morning of check out to extend the room. I was told straight away they would not be able to accommodate us as they were almost full and had to save for future bookings. Upon challenging them that I could simply book a room online and that they appeared to prioritise new customers over current customers with young children, I was then allowed to extend our time. Overall it was a pleasant stay but staff friendliness and children's variety of food and plastic cutlery is very much needed."

"Great hotel! The room was clean, comfortable, and fully equipped. The staff was incredibly helpful and courteous. Nearby, there are beaches, small shops, and beautiful views. Gorgeous sunsets can be seen from the hotel balcony. Delicious food, snacks, and desserts—there's something for everyone. I'll definitely be back, and more than once."
