Fergus Cactus Garden

"Lovely smaller hotel in Morro Jable. The location is great for the beach, town and marina. We were very lucky to have a free upgrade, so had an amazing room, with sea and lighthouse views. Food had a good choice, but not always hot, the puddings however were very 1970's, jelly, ice cream, rice, instant whip etc, so not to my liking. Always plenty of choice with meals though. The breakfast was a good English, but again not always hot. We loved the fruit at breakfast, strawberries and mango. Pastries always available at breakfast, along with a continental too. Drinks on the AI were limited, but as we do not drink alcohol, we got by with soft drinks and hot drinks. Would have been nice to have iced tea, but we filled our cup with the iced tea at breakfast. We enjoyed sitting outside for every meal and were entertained by the cattle egrets begging for food. It is outside on the street, but as the hotel is at the end of the road, very little footfall walking past. Entertainment in evening was limited. We saw 3 singers in 10 days, rest was quizzes, karaoke etc. Entertainment guy was friendly though.Pool was smallish, but we did swim lengths, although it's obviously not heated, as got colder through our stay. Plenty of sunbeds on different levels. Some by pool, some on higher pool level, plenty on level 6 and then a nudist area on level 9 with sunbeds and jacuzzi. TV in rooms was good, with main English channels and WiFi was very good in rooms, but bit hit and miss in some areas. The reception crew make the hotel. They are so friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. We requested the gym to be opened every morning, as it generally was 10 am to 10pm, but everyday it was opened for us, no problem. The gym itself was very basic with a bike, few weights,gym balls, sit up seat and a weight machine, but we managed 30 minutes each day. Safe came free with the room, which is useful. Our beds were made up every day and towels changed every 2 days, but that was our choice. You can have clean ones every day if you wish. Pool towels can be hired for 20 euro deposit. We did find smoking to be an issue, as it was permitted by the pool, but people seemed to also smoke under the covered area too. This was worse at the roof bar, which was open when music was on. However, you have to pay at the roof bar, so stock up on AI drinks and take them up with you. No luggage storage area, but safe enough at reception. Overall a beautiful stay and would definitely return. Thank you team Cactus Garden."

"We stayed for a week half board and overall had a nice holiday. We had issues with the food and cleanliness of the hotel. The restaurant is a free for all and at times we struggled to find clean cutlery or glasses. The food looked and tasted like it was being reissued. It really wasn't very nice. We upgraded to a room with a balcony to be overlooking the entrance to another hotel room. Big gaps in the bathroom door so odors would travel through the room. We also had to report Cockroaches a couple of times. We got this package for a good price. Had we paid full price I would have been disappointed. Saying this is a four star hotel is very generous. Good points to the hotel. Friendly staff and great location."
