"We were met by Mari on reception who welcomed us with open armes , this was our 18th visit after staying many times before and we have enjoyed every visit. We always upgrade to Black bands, mainly to enjoy a glass or 2 of wine from the “Torres winery selection” with our evening meal and bottled water whether sparkling or flat during the day , and maybe a Jamison’s as a night cap. Personally we find the cost good value for money.
Room :- stayed in the adult only side in one of the last to be refurbished rooms block 8. The room was as we had come to expect , clean, undamaged with everything working and with excellent maid service . We had requested the bed be made up as a double , which it was , this stops the two beds parting during the night.
Food :- again as we had come to expect, good selection for breakfast ( full cooked English to full continental selection ). Lunch and evening meals are in the main restaurant meals again varied throughout the weeks . I enjoyed Steak, pork, chicken all cooked on the griddle and baked Salmon. If you are a meat and two veg person who needs the veg to be cooked and presented separately, you will struggle . As most of the trays have mixed veg in. I do agree you can get the odd cold dish from the hot plates, but for me only once or twice . They now only operate the La Choza restaurant for snacks from 10am to 5 pm.
We booked our A-la-carte meal and have to say there were the best we had, experienced for a number of years, with Miguel in charge this time , a bit like old times really.
Bar :- it was good to catch up with Fran and all the bar staff we have known for years , they are a credit to the hotel. There are some newer recruits, that are becoming new friends. I understand that one of the original bar staff from when the hotel opened ,Pablo has now retired. Self-service drinks dispensers help keep the Queues down, but for those who want the personal touch small queues are inevitable and this is the same the world over, this was never a problem to us .
Beach :- All beaches at this end of the island are "Cloth Optional" meaning you are lightly to see nudists , there are no designated areas and are free to wonder about as they wish , despite what some people believe. The beach is a council owned and run, Sun loungers and umbrellas are available for hire cost 5€ per item. the beach is relatively safe and life guarded.
Entertainment :- this was either in the downstairs theatre, outside stage or in the upstairs bar a mix of acts ,singers and bands, some better than others.
Spar and Naturist area :- This area is looking very sad now with paint peeling on some walls. A large proportion of the “hotel owned” equipment in this area is broken. In the Naturist area there is no chilled flat water available, only sparkling from the Post-mix unit together with Pepsi, fizzy orange , lemon etc+ beer. The ice machine only gets filled if the bar staff remember. The chipped ice machine in the Sauna area and the bucket showers all broken / not working. Also one jacuzzi is gone and the other is empty and taped off. The good news is both Sauna and steam room are working. Would it be posable to send a maintenance team to repaint the flaking wall ?
General observations :- The restaurant now has modern aircon that is most welcome . They now have many more life guard around all pools again a welcome addition. There were NO groups of rowdy 20 something mucking about , just to odd Brit having had too much to drink, the vast majority were there to enjoy their holiday in the sun.
Refurbishment :- The last major refurbishment was carried out in 2011/2012 with a room refurbishment program started before Covid struck but never completed. I understand that the hotel is due to close end of October 2026 for another major Refurbishment . For those of us who use the Naturist Area, we are hoping that this area gets a new lease of life for us to continue to enjoy, unlike the naturist area in the Fuerteventura princess next door which disappeared !
None of the problems above detracted from our holiday, we enjoyed ourselves and are looking to rebook for 2026 . C&A"
