The newly renovated Coral Cotillo Beach has bagged a great spot in El Cotillo – it’s just minutes from a beautifully rugged sandy beach. And because it’s based in a small resort town, you’re within easy reach of the best cafés, restaurants, and bars.

Back at the hotel, days are best spent by the plus-sized pool. It’s set into a spacious sun terrace that’s loaded with plenty of loungers and parasols. You’ll also find a smaller space to splash for little ones. Feeling peckish? The poolside bar has got you covered with a menu of snacks available during the day. The main restaurant, meanwhile, takes care of mealtimes. It’s a buffet setup with lots of international dishes to choose from, and show cooking at dinnertime.

This charming little village is on the northwestern corner of Fuerteventura in an area renowned for its rugged coastline and vast, untouched landscapes. While El Cotillo’s reputation as a holiday hotspot is growing, it retains its character with its little seafood restaurants supplied by the colourful boats bob offshore. If you want to know more about the village’s deep connections to the sea, pop into the Museum of Traditional Fishing next to the jaunty stripes of El Cotillo’s lighthouse. 
 
You could spend your days exploring the island. Or you could simply stretch out on your own patch of beach – try El Cotillo Beach or the white sand coves of Playa de Los Lagos. For gentle strolls and a break from the sun, you can explore Calle Muelle Pescadores behind the old harbour, a pedestrian strip of shops and tapas bars where you’ll also spot paintings and sculptures by local artists.
