Elba Lucia Sport and Suite Hotel

"It does what it says on the tin. A 3star hotel you should not expect the world. Ultimately a holiday is only as fun as you make it. It is most definitely classed as a 3 star correctly, however we have been low 4 stars which are similar in terms so with a few tweaks it could push for a 4*. For starters, Check in is 15:00 but you can check in before, use the amenities and All inclusive from when you arrive. Our room was ready earlier than that and they will call you when your room is ready. Reception staff are friendly and easy check in. The location of the hotel is very close to the airport. Just under 15 euro taxi. You can't hear or see the planes from the pool or hotel with a few rooms on the far side where you can hear and see them but once the door is shut it is silent so that does not make any impact. It is around a 45 minute walk to the local town (Castillo Caleta de Fuste) Which is a really nice town and definitely worth a visit to especially for the beach. It is a 5 euro taxi so definitely accessible and worth a visit. The actual area at the hotel is so quiet and not much around it. But if you do your research than you understand that and already accept it. A quiet retreat is what this is. The rooms are on the dated side however fully adequate and it is what you expect for a 3 star. No A/C i thought would be the end of the world. Fans are available to be rented but with the balcony doors open it cooled down the room nicely. So it didn't worry too much and was bearable. We were located in the sports section of the hotel, on the second floor S204. Lifts are available for the rooms (Out of action for the restaurant and bar at the moment). I had actually requested a room in this part as i saw reviews that it is quieter side and that a breeze which went into the room. Our view backed onto some palm trees with the airport in the distance seeing the runway and planes land aswell as a sea view, all be it not the best but we could still see it through the trees. The room had a kitchen area with a working fridge and all the things needed for self catering. Bathroom with hand soap and shower gel included which was handy. Towels are changed every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. Not a fan i would rather changed everyday but will not complain as we made do. Bed sheets are changed once a week. Rooms are cleaned daily. Room with an actual key so don't loose it! Lots of sports can be played at a cost, tennis, badminton, etc. The pool area is a really good standard and very fun. No reserving sunbeds is perfect. Sunbeds are stacked up every morning so grab one and find a place to put one and enjoy. With a choice of shade or sun take your pick. The pool is a good temperature once you are in. Their are steps and levels to the pool so suitable for all if you want deep or be able to stand in. Aswell as ledges to sit in the pool and relax. Pool balls, floats and dive sticks are all allowed which is good fun. A really enjoyable pool area. IKER is amazing as many people have said before. Interacting with both children and adults with a small choice but activities for all. The pool bar has a really good selection of drinks for all inclusive, including non alcoholic heinkien which i haven't seen in a while. Good selection of cocktails aswell as self service soft drinks. Ice creams avaliable aswell as snacks from 15:00. The bar upstairs is small, does the job and live music is often. It does the job! You can take drinks back to room in paper cups which is good. Food. Small selection, but enough to fill a plate or 2! It is a 3 star remember. Food did vary each day with not much being repeated, which was nice to have variation. The dinning room was small and dark, old not a fan. We sat outdoors alot which was nice to sit outside but not the nicest area but oh well. Tables were cleaned as quick as possible with a small group of staff. You can help yourself to water and juices, coffee at breakfast. With soft drinks having to wait behind a podium to be served by a member of staff. Weird but okay. Breakfast, your usual hot meas, scrambled egg only no omlettes. Sausages which were british and nice. Bacon, beans, hash browns one day, pancakes the other day and churros the day after. A small continental selection which wasn't the best. 2 yogurts and some fruit. Breads and toaster etc. Lunch at the restaurant had changed daily and was alright. Dinner theme changed each night and despite a small selection their was always lot to eat and it was nice enough. Desserts were awful and same each day pretty much. Improvement needed there. I really enjoyed asian night. The staff are brilliant, especially iker. Top top. We went into this with very low expectations and was pleasantly surprised. We definitely had a good and enjoyable time!"

"This has been the worst holiday I've ever had. There was no air conditioning anywhere in the hotel, making it unbearably hot. The hotel was dirty, and our room wasn't cleaned during our stay—only fresh towels were provided every other day. Around the pool, there were dead pigeons left lying around, which was disgusting and completely unacceptable. The staff were generally rude and unhelpful, making the experience even worse. The entertainment was very poor, with only one entertainer, and even he didn't always show up. The kids' club was never open despite being advertised, which was a huge disappointment for families. Overall, this hotel was nothing like what was promised. Poor cleanliness, lack of basic facilities, unfriendly staff, and non-existent entertainment made this a holiday to forget. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone."

"When you pull up to the hotel, its a bit out of place and the hotel looks great however it is surrounded by large open spaces with one space has half finished building which we were unsure if it was being put up or knocked down. The reception is well looked after and the central point to access to restaurant, pool and shop. We arrived at the hotel and were welcomed by the reception staff, who are the most helpful team in the whole hotel. We were given directions to our room and were advised there was lift, but prepare yourself that it it is very small and we are unsure how they think 4 people could fit in. Our room was spacious with kitchen/dining/ living room having everything you need for your holiday. The bedroom was good with 2 single beds put together. Only 1 pillow on bed but you can ask reception for more if needed. No air conditioning, but we managed by having window open but would suggest that fan is needed so add in €10 for deposit and then €15 for the week. They are just small desk fans so you may need more than 1. The rooms are a little bashed but very clean and the cleaning staff came in daily with bedding and towels cleaned 3 times during our stay. The building is circular so large portion of rooms overlooking the pool. This is perfect as when you are in pool it is protected from any wind. The pool does not open until 10am and sunloungers are not unlocked until about 9am. The pool also closes at 6pm and you are encouraged to leave area and loungers locked up again which seems such a shame for missing out on some sun. They say you can not reserve them however noone monitors and very frustrating as some people went out for the morning leaving the towels on the loungers. There is limited shaded areas so you have to be quick. There is a childrens pool seperate for the kids as well as shallow area in big pool. There is bar at pool which is well stocked and available when pool open with easy access to getting your own fizzy drinks. At the moment there is no lift to the restaurant which I believe is out of action for sometime and not going to be up and running until next year. You can use the room lift to the 3rd floor but there is still 1 set of stairs to get to restaurant. The meals are buffet, though they do have signs saying there is restaurant above this but that is not currently in place. Breakfast is 8 til 1030 and there is always large quantity of food but very little variability. The food is more lukewarm to hot. There is limit options for those with dietary restrictions though they do put signs above food identifying possible allergies but there is noone stopping kids and adults mixing spoons so there is risk. As someone with those issues, I struggled to have any variety even though I approached the hotel prior to assure they could accommodate. The staff in the area have very little interest in interacting with customers and you have to figure out everything on your own. They also had little interest or understanding of allergies/ intolerances also causing some contamination. Lunch is 1300 til 1500 with again food being lukewarm and limited options. There is snacks at the pool 1500 til 1700 which are cooked in the bar but no options for those with dietary requirements as everything cooked in same friers and then put in silver containers and left out in the sun. Dinner is 1830 til 2130 and has very similar options seen at lunch and has some themes but majority is pork and meat on bone. Again limited options for dietary requirements. Below the restaurant is the bar, sadly you are not allowed to take drinks out of here. Again well stocked with lots of options but sadly again staff not very engaging and seem more frustrated you are bothering them. Not very welcoming so we did not stay around for any of the entertainment. The shop has variety of wears but if you go self catering not enough options for setting you up. But Lidls is about 30 min walk away. To get to beach you will have to go to calte de fuste to access but there is free bus from hotel in morning but doesn't start til after 10. To get back you will have to come back by walking, local bus or taxi. Taxi is very cheap and fast so definitely recommend. Check out is noon but staff were very helpful allowing us to extend u til 1500 for €25. We could only confirm this the day before but receptions staff were very helpful advising if it was not possible, they have luggage storage and we could continue to use facilities. With option of shower in gym. We had issues with dead birds at the hotel during our stay. They were by the pool, in the corridors and on our balcony. Staff seemed unfazed by this and took 3 times speaking to reception before it was dealt with. In regards to entertainment around pool, there was not a lot happening though there was aqua carpet brought out on some days for kids for an hour. There was sign up about aqua fit and dancing but i did not see any of this happening. There was also a poor soul who came out in mascot costume, they must have been roasting. On leaving, was disturbed to hear that the entertainment staff had asked to see a child's phone and then had provided reviews for the hotel which parents had found out as they kids phones are linked to their accounts. Very concerned from safe guarding and honesty of staff."
