Riu Palace Tres Islas

"Middle of nowhere. Limited basic entertainment. All inclusive doesn't include food at pool bar or ice cream. Food in general uninspiring. Staff seem to pander more to half board guests as they have to pay for drink. Noting to do in day. Basic dated rooms mini bar contains 2 cans of larger the rest soft drinks not what I woul call a mini bar refilled every second day. Ideal if you enjoy being board I would rate the hotel 3 star."

"We choose to return to this hotel having stayed there last October. Although a little tired, the hotel is located in an idyllic if remote position with miles of two stunning white sandy beaches. By far the majority of staff are pleasant friendly and very helpful. All was good until five days into the holidays when both my wife and I developed upset stomach’s and diarrhoea, my wife has since needed to see GP due to its persistence. We did not leave the hotel therefore the tummy bug was probably contracted at the hotel. In fairness it could have been due to other guests poor hygiene although we noted a lot of flies in the restaurant. Chatting to another couple they said they noticed a lower standard and people smoking in the entertainment area which we had to agree with. It seems they were on their second holiday at the hotel but felt it had lost its appeal and would not be returning. As we contemplated whether or not, we would return to the hotel the decision was made for us by a bar waiter who was searching for us, he found us chatting to the other couple and without any form of courtesy demand payment of €5.80 for two small bottles of water. It seemed a little trivial considering the €522.00 bar bill I had just settled and the €40.00 I had given as tips to the pleasant staff. Upon reflection we will not be returning to this hotel however due to our previous experience last year we will definitely try other Riu hotels"

"We were here 2 years ago and returned as it was great last time. We wer5e hoping that the hotel might have been upgraded or renovated in some way this time. The pool area had fresh tiles above water but otherwise little in the way of renovation. Last time the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Less so this time with less English speaking staff than previously. The food is just as good with plenty of choice and if anything the wine seemed better as well. Never a problem finding a sunbed. The pool service isn't as good as it was. We won't be coming back again to this hotel but the stay was enjoyable and the beach is beautiful."
