"Unfortunately, I could not recommend this hotel based on our experience.
The biggest issue was the air conditioning. We booked this holiday specifically advertised with air conditioning, yet we spent virtually our entire stay without working air con during extremely high temperatures. We had sleepless nights, headaches and heat rash and resorted to sleeping with wet towels over us just to try to cool down. Both of my children also experienced temperatures during the holiday.
We received completely conflicting information throughout our stay. Hotel management told us the air conditioning was broken across the complex and couldn't be fixed, while easyJet were being given different information by the hotel.
After days of complaints, maintenance finally attended with only one full day of our holiday remaining. We were told the air conditioning had now been fixed and that it would take approximately two hours for the room to cool down. It didn't. The room remained exactly the same and the air conditioning was still not working. So even after being told the problem had finally been resolved, we were left in exactly the same position.
Ironically, throughout all of this, the manager's office was beautifully air conditioned and absolutely freezing, while guests were expected to cope without it.
Our problems actually started on the first night, when the toilet system came away from the wall while my son was sitting on it. It became apparent that the toilet had not been properly attached and secured to the wall, allowing the unit to come away while it was being used. We had to move rooms that evening. My son already struggles with using the toilet, so having this happen while he was sitting on it understandably caused him a great deal of anxiety.
Another extremely upsetting aspect of our room was what appeared to be a pigeon trap positioned directly outside our window and within reaching distance. It contained bird seed and what appeared to be a water feeder, with pigeons able to enter but seemingly unable to get back out. During our stay, one of the pigeons died inside it during the extreme heat. Having that directly outside our window was horrible to witness, and my boys were incredibly upset by seeing a dead bird trapped inside. It is certainly not something I expected my children to be confronted with while on a family holiday.
Then there was the sunbed situation. Guests reserve beds despite this apparently being against hotel policy, but the policy simply isn't properly enforced. When we approached management, we were essentially told guests needed to sort it out amongst themselves. This resulted in an argument with other guests where we were shouted at in front of our children. Guests should never be put in the position of having to police a hotel's own rules.
The most disappointing part was the attitude of management. Rather than feeling that problems were being taken seriously and resolved, we constantly felt passed between the hotel and easyJet, with each seemingly saying the other was responsible.
As a single parent, I work incredibly hard to afford one family holiday a year. I want to give my boys experiences and memories that I didn't have growing up, and in all the years I've taken them away, this has genuinely been the most disheartening trip we've had.
Problems can happen at any hotel, what matters is how they're dealt with. Unfortunately, our experience was one problem after another, with far too much of our holiday spent complaining, chasing solutions and simply trying to make ourselves comfortable.
We should have come home talking about the memories we'd made. Instead, we'll remember the holiday where the toilet came away from the wall while my son was using it, we couldn't sleep because of the heat, my children witnessed a dead pigeon trapped outside our window, and we spent days trying to get basic problems resolved."
