Barcelo Corralejo Bay

"We went as a family of four, two oldies and our daughter & son-in-law. We arrived around 2pm and were met by very helpful reception staff. Our room was spacious and exactly as described in the photo's by the hotel and JET2, the hotel is adults only and it was very peaceful. We were all inclusive, breakfast and dinner was buffet style, the food was to a very high standard (and the plates were warm not cold), there was plenty of choice with varied themed offerings. Lunch was taken at the pool bar, food was cooked to order and the service was very good. Drinks at the bars were also very good with plenty of choice. One of the swimming pools was heated and you could join in with the water aerobics, there is also a gym and Spa. All the staff spoke good English, but it was fun interacting with them as we tried to speak Spanish and they did seem to enjoy the banter in the restaurant and bars. There was the usual hotel evening entertainment, but this all stopped at 11pm and then it was very quiet. The hotel is very close to the strip where you could find plenty of shops and supermarkets etc. The area is also very clean and flat. We had a day trip to Lanzarote on the ferry, plus a visit to the sand dunes which was lovely. Would we go back yes, would we use this hotel definitely. ALL the staff worked so hard, we could not fault anyone."

"Had a wonderful holiday at the Corralejo Bay hotel it was every thing I expected from the revues I had read,and would recommend it and I would visit it again.There were how ever two items that need addressing. Firstly the restaurant was under staffed so you were constantly waiting for tables to be cleared, so you had groups of diners stood around waiting and it wasn't particularly busy. The next was no provision for a simple continental breakfast for guests who had early morning flights who had to leave before 7.0 am."

"We had a good overall stay at Barceló Corralejo Bay, with some definite highlights but also a few issues that need addressing. The location is excellent. You can walk into Corralejo town in around five minutes, with plenty of affordable places to eat and drink nearby if you fancy a change from the hotel. The pool area and facilities were nice and clean, and the food was much better than I’ve experienced at other all-inclusive hotels. The drinks were another highlight, particularly the cocktails, which were properly made rather than the usual watered-down all-inclusive offerings. However, there are several areas where the hotel falls short. The air conditioning was extremely poor. It barely worked in our room, and the same issue affected the rooms of other relatives travelling with us. This clearly wasn’t an isolated problem with one room. The hotel itself feels very outdated in places and is in need of modernisation, with the air conditioning being a particularly important issue that needs to be addressed. Housekeeping was also inconsistent. Water wasn’t reliably replenished in our room each day, meaning we couldn’t count on having drinking water available when we needed it. Even more frustratingly, staff would sometimes turn up the already barely functioning air conditioning when servicing the room, making an already uncomfortable situation worse. The sunbed situation around the pool was another frustration. There didn’t seem to be enough sunbeds for everyone, and people were reserving them with towels and then leaving them unoccupied for long periods. The hotel needs to do a much better job of enforcing its sunbed policy so that guests who actually want to use the facilities can find somewhere to sit. Finally, I felt some staff could have been friendlier and more welcoming throughout the stay. The hotel also attracts a noticeably older, more mature clientele. This didn’t bother me personally, but it’s worth mentioning for anyone looking for a younger or livelier atmosphere. Overall, the hotel has a lot going for it, particularly its location, food and drinks. However, the poor air conditioning, outdated rooms and lack of effective sunbed management detract from the experience. With some investment in modernisation and better attention to guest comfort, this could be a much better hotel."
