"A beautiful hotel, honestly stunning. The room was elegant, spotlessly clean and comfortable. It was cleaned every day and while I made the bed to be neat, the ladies did it properly lol. I personally liked the rich wood furniture aesthetic, and the storage space was phenomenal. I also had a wee balcony with a side sea view, and it was perfect. The staff were lovely, and very helpful. There is a big story here about how I found myself at the MS Amaragua.
I did not book this hotel, I was transferred here after finding myself stranded at midnight outside the closed Ibersol Beach and when I finally found a number that got through to the Ibersol manager, who was lovely btw, I was told I had been booked into another hotel. I had not been informed by the travel agency and was very scared in the dark in an alley way alone. I was even more worried arriving at the reception desk, in case they knew nothing about me.
I was at the mercy of that phone call, but the lady on the reception desk who took my details was very helpful and seeing how worried and borderline tearful I was reassured me that everything was OK, as was the kind man who took my luggage up to my room (yes, I know, they took my luggage to my room ... faints with shock.. so posh!). The relief was something I hope no one has the misfortune to ever feel.
I thank the gods the Ibersol was shut and I was booked into the Amaragua, as I would never have afforded to come to this gorgeous hotel. They had a cellist one morning at breakfast, I felt like I had died and gone to heaven. Another morning, waiting to go up to the dining room they offered everyone a glass of prosecco or maybe cava. I declined, as too early for me (I'm Scottish but not that Scottish lol), but it was a lovely experience. In the afternoon and evening there was entertainment in the main foyer; I stopped to listen to a group of singers who were amazing.
The breakfast selection was wide ranging, from bacon and eggs, omelettes, to Iberian ham cut by an expert, to cheeses, olives, salads and fruit, yogurts, many types of breads and rolls and each morning I tried something different and was never disappointed. I hadn't booked a holiday with dinner or lunch so I can't speak to that; I ate out and as you know the Cariheula has wonderful restaurants and cafes for all tastes.
The decor and colour choices blew me away. They have several period pieces of furniture that just bring a sense of timelessness to a modern building; flowers growing in the rear foyer; an antique horse drawn carriage; a statue of perhaps the Spanish Riding School in action at the front; a waterfall wall beside reception. Each floor had a massive oil painting that showed different scenes and the colours the artist used were complementary to the general look of the interior. Even the lift was pretty!
The pool was right at the beach and the view from the outdoor dining area was something else, especially at sunrise and sunset. I felt very lucky to have found myself here as it was the most luxurious experience I have ever had in my life, and the ladies who keep it so spotless are the real troopers here. The staff I think really go above and beyond and take a real pride and I for one very much appreciated their hard work! This was the first time I have experienced a 4 star hotel, and all I have to say is wow, if you get the chance to come here do take it, I don't think anyone would be disappointed. I don't think I'll be able to repeat the experience but if I could, I would be here every single time I visit Torremolinos. Thank you for a wonderful stay that completely transformed the horror at the start of my holiday!"
