Hotel Nerja Club

"Holiday for my wife and I was from Oct 18th and back home on the 28th. Nice hotel a little bit out the way from Nerja Old Town ( 15-20 minute walk) which is good for burning calories after a meal or night out but can be tiresome if heading back and forth multiple times during the day. For those unable to make the walk I understand that a town bus service runs near the hotel although it would be good if the hotel introduced a regular shuttle service. For those not driving, there is a main bus station approx 15 minutes from the hotel. This allows easy travel to places such as Frigiliana, Maro ( for the Nerja caves ) and Almuñécar with its botanical gardens, castle and old town charms. Bus service was reliable ( and air conditioned ) for us. The hotel itself met all our expectations. The room was kept clean, certainly adequate, air conditioned and with with a good powerful shower but the furnishings could do with a bit of tender loving care. Bring ear defenders if you sleep lightly. We aren't particularly sun worshippers but spent a little bit of time on the loungers to relax which were always available. There is a restriction on reserving the sun loungers with your towel which might have helped. Other guests I met were really nice ( you know who you are!); no rowdyness and were an absolute pleasure to meet. Food was fine; we were bed and breakfast but had a couple of evening meals in the hotel. Breakfast offers a good selection for everyone. The fruit was particularly nice. For those that enjoy cereal, there were limited options. Best to tget to breakfast early (8am) as the room soon fills up. Evening meals seemed nice and good value for money and my wife and I always found something we enjoyed each time. Themed nights help with variety. All in all, a really nice hotel, and if you don't mind a bit of walking, definitely one to watch out for when booking your next holiday to Nerja."

"We spent 4 days in this hotel in mid-October 2025. We already knew where the hotel was located and aware it was a 15 minute walk to the centre of Nerja. There is a bus stop beside the supermarket over the road (Carrefour). There is another Mercadona supermarket just up the road on the left hand side. I seen people complain about the location, but as I did research before booking! We walked in most days and walked back, it allowed us to burn off our food and drinks 😀 Hotel - Yes, it is dated and could do with an upgrade and a lick of paint. Some wear and tear, but it did not spoil our holiday. Reception - Check-in was very easy and we were assisted by a female who was polite and helpful. We had to wait 20 minutes for our room (it was ready at 3pm). We had to pay 30 euros for the safe in the room, and received 20 euros when we booked at. We had no issue with this. We checked out prior to 12 pm on our last day. The receptionist also gave us towels and we had a shower prior to our taxi collecting us. Room - We were allocated room 308. It was on the third floor with a beautiful but small balcony. It was big enough for two and we used it throughout our stay. It also had a brilliant view of Nerja and the sea. It also overlooked the pool and good for people watching. Yes the room was dated and the sliding wardrobe doors were a pain. The beds were hard, there was a fridge, which was handy for the beers. The bathroom was dated, however the shower was brilliant with some force. Stayed in may hotels over the years and this was the best pressure I have ever witnessed. Breakfast - The breakfast/evening meal room was on the bottom floor and easy to find. Remember and bring your check-in paperwork or you will not be allowed in. It was a large room and plenty of food on offer, for example usual cooked breakfast, fruit, porridge etc. Please note there is a microwave to heat up porridge as it was always cold. Could not fault breakfast. Evening meal room - We were only bed and breakfast so can comment on the evening meal, however it was a different theme each night. Pool - The pool was big enough for the guests. Yes, the sun beds need upgrading, but again did not detract from our experience. There were plenty of sun beds, but as usual people throw on their towel and disappear - selfish! A word of warning be careful of the umbrellas when we were there a huge wind got up and as it was not attached is blew onto to my partner. She was not injured, but it did startle her. Perhaps if there was a clip on the umbrella this may have prevented this happening. Shout to the folks who asked out for her and made sure she was okay. Hope you read this, so thanks 😀 By the way there is no pool attendant. Activities - We have stayed in Nerja before, so we are well acquainted with the centre. We had a lovely meal in Mum restaurant (Indian) and the ice cream shops just around the corner was loved as always. We had tapas in redondos, it was great. You order a drink and get tapas at the same time. We will definitely be back. We also had an Italian just off the Balcon de Europa which was excellent, can’t remember the name, but beside the ice cream shops. We went to frigiliana and caught the bus, it is located at the third roundabout on the way down and to the right. It was 15 minutes to get there. Word of caution be prepared to be rude and push when the bus arrives! Spent a lovely day in the village, beautiful shops and lovely views. We have been to the caves before, but worth a visit and the beaches on the front. Conclusion - We had a lovely time, we did not pay that much for 4 nights. It is not the Ritz and yes it could do with an upgrade. Yes it is a walk to the centre, but do your research. There are restaurants nearby, we ate in Yuan (not impressed) and La Pescia (it was good). It would save you a walk into to the centre, however Nerja is lovely and vibrant at night. We would not return, we never go to the same place twice. "On arrival to this hotel we were very disappointed to the fact I had to show the picture of the hotel to the driver and query if he had the correct hotel. The photos of the entrance on website didn’t look like the real thing. The plants to the entrance were half dead and it looked like a building site. The reception area was very run down too. The lounge areas were a bit better but the chairs are in need of a clean. We were told our room wasn’t ready which was expected and to come back. In the meantime we made our way to the sports bar which was attached to the hotel which was quite nice and they had decaf coffee which was great! We made our way out to the pool area which was nice and peaceful with lovely views. We were given our room key to made our way to our room which was for 3 people. We had to ask for extra cups and pillows because they had only put in enough for two! The rooms are in need of updating and are very dark. The bathroom door had splintered wood all around the architrave and at the bottom so definitely needs replacing. We were in half board basis but after going for breakfast the following morning and seeing what was on offer we decided to give it a wide berth. There was no fruit apart from a few bits of pineapple. Yoghurt with no serving spoon and 5 cups available for both drinks machines. One type if meat spread over 4 trays and a tray of sweaty plastic cheese with a hot selection of eggs, bacon, beans and mushrooms with some bread in another corner. Very poorly presented. Hasten to add we ate out for the rest of the holiday or ate in the sports bar which was nice food at reasonable prices. The standard of cleaning is very poor in the rooms. We pulled the covers over the beds in the morning and that’s how they stayed. The sink was never wiped around although the communal areas looked clean and tidy. We had a lovely time in Nerja but wouldn’t return to this hotel. Also if you have walking difficulties I wouldn’t recommend."
