Barcelo Punta Umbria Beach Resort

"1. All the toilets I used in the resort were missing toilet brushes. 2. The Wi-Fi is extremely insecure, with no login portal and a shared password, making it potentially unsafe for guests. 3. Although the TVs offer casting, this function is blocked. Guests can only watch hotel-provided channels, which feels unnecessarily restrictive. 4. The room safe was advertised as included, but I was initially asked to pay €3 per day to use it. After several complaints, this was eventually resolved, but I had to insist multiple times. Additionally, the provided safe code was incorrect. 5. Guests are not allowed to take food away from breakfast or snack areas, which is inconvenient in an all-inclusive setting. 6. The worst experience occurred on my first morning. At around 11:30 a.m., I was very hungry and was taking a coffee and four croissants to the terrace when a resort employee aggressively blocked my path and began speaking to me in Spanish, informing me that taking food out of the dining area was forbidden. This was the moment I first learned of this rule. The confrontation lasted several minutes, and afterward, staff members appeared to follow me to the terrace and watched me eat from approximately two meters away. It was extremely unpleasant and far from the experience one would expect at a resort of this category. 7. Very few staff members speak languages other than Spanish, which made communication difficult for international guests. 8. While the room itself was comfortable, the bathroom had no active ventilation system. 9. On the last day, despite the ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign being displayed, staff knocked on the door and, after we informed them that the room was occupied, attempted to enter while we were getting dressed, which was highly inappropriate. 10. The resort requires payment for parking, which feels unreasonable given the overall price of the stay. 11. Several doors and facilities throughout the resort are poorly maintained, including difficult-to-open doors, faulty mechanisms, and loose fixtures in the room. 12. Having to use and present a meal-time card for Lunch and Dinner reduces the sense of freedom and relaxation expected from an all-inclusive resort. 13. The only positive points for me were: a) The Pool, b) Animation team, c) Barcy club (kids club), d) Kids park. Overall, these issues made the experience feel far below a four-star all-inclusive standard in Europe, and I would not recommend this resort."

"We had a lovely 10 days holiday at this hotel, rooms were great with a lovely view over the nature reserve. Food was ok but a bit repetitive. I would like to make some constructive points for the hotel. All 4*/5* AI we have stayed in always fill and replenish the fridge daily with water and juice, this only happens here if you pay as a priority guest. AI only lasts till midday on your day of departure, regardless of when you arrive. Most others you can use until you leave. Maybe also have some more English speaking entertainment/reception team. We were unable to participate in the bingo etc as no English spoken 😕 The pool area could also do with being cleaned more often. It would also be beneficial to always have a courtesy room available when you are unable to get late check out for your room It is a 30/40 minute walk into the centre of Punta Umbria and a 10 minute walk to the beach. Will definitely come back to Andalucia."

"If your British holidaymaker don't go here, totally oriented on Spanish people, very poor speaking English by all staff, worst at reception. Entertainment all in Spanish, no local bus route into other towns. Food not great found it very repetitive and not English breakfast products. We complained but didn't change much, left chocolates in our room didn't make up for awful time, won't be back here ever."
