"Overall, we left feeling somewhat disappointed with our stay. We had booked the Junior Suite with Private Terrace & Jacuzzi for two adults directly through the official Fergus Conil website, but the room we were allocated was not representative of the room shown in the photographs. Although the room itself was spacious and pleasant, it did not reflect the images advertised online and therefore did not meet the expectations we had when making the booking. Given the price we paid for a three-night stay in this category of suite, we felt that the accommodation was not a true reflection of what had been presented on the website, which was the main reason for our disappointment. In addition, the jacuzzi was situated on the upper terrace and could only be accessed via a spiral staircase, and the curtains in our room would not close completely hence early morning light would shine through.
The hotel’s layout can also be somewhat confusing, particularly for guests allocated rooms on different levels.
The advertised gym was another major disappointment. The gym was virtually non-existent and consisted of a small, rather shabby room with only around four pieces of equipment. This fell well below our expectations
The hotel could also benefit from better maintenance. The toilet beside the restaurant was in need of attention, as the door frequently became stuck, and the broken soap dispenser should either be repaired or replaced, or at the very least a soap bottle should be provided.
Breakfast could be improved considerably. Fresh juices and better-quality coffee would be preferable to the overly sweet coffee dispensed by the machine. Overall, the food was mediocre and I would not recommend booking half board, especially as there are plenty of excellent and varied restaurants just a five-minute walk away in the centre of Conil.
That said, the staff were attentive, welcoming and professional throughout our stay, and the housekeeping service was good. The hotel’s location is undoubtedly one of its strengths. However, based on our overall experience and considering the value for money, I would not be inclined to rebook and would definitely avoid the half-board option."
