"The Hotel Playa de Regla is initially impressive due to its excellent location directly on the beach of the same name in Chipiona. The beach terrace and the glass-enclosed pavilion with a sea view, as well as the well-maintained common areas with their traditional Andalusian ambiance, leave a positive impression. The staff was friendly, helpful, and service-oriented during my five-day stay. Also noteworthy are the varied breakfast, the free Wi-Fi, and the daily, thorough room cleaning. For a stay in Chipiona, however, it is advisable to have basic knowledge of Spanish, as English cannot be assumed to be a common language everywhere.
My local single room on the ground floor was clean, functionally equipped, and generally sufficient for a short stay. The actual weakness, however, lay less in the size or orientation of the room toward the rear hotel parking lot than in the structural situation. The distinct lack of soundproofing significantly impaired the nighttime quiet. The doors of the neighboring rooms slammed shut loudly; closing them quietly was practically impossible. Conversations, some very private noises, as well as footsteps and walking sounds were clearly audible from the adjacent rooms. Due to the rear location, there was also occasional noise from the neighboring hotel. Since the disturbances were not limited to a single night and sometimes lasted well past midnight, I eventually had to resort to earplugs. A truly restful night's sleep was still not possible, resulting in a significant limitation of comfort.
The most lasting negative impression was ultimately left by another incident. Although I initially let the nightly disturbances and even the distinct smell of smoke in the hallway slide,
I found a note in my room the following day stating that I was to be charged a cleaning fee of €150 for alleged smoking. Since I am a non-smoker and felt that I had always behaved considerately during my stay, I found this unjustified accusation to be extremely unpleasant. After consultation, the matter was indeed resolved and the fee was not charged; however, the incident left an avoidable, negative impression.
My conclusion is therefore clearly ambivalent. Location, ambiance, service, and breakfast speak for the hotel. However, the repeated sleep disturbances due to the distinct lack of soundproofing clearly overshadow these positive impressions to an extent that was ultimately decisive for me. At least regarding the local single room I occupied, I would therefore not book the hotel again."
