Hotel Riu Chiclana

"what can I say…………We had an amazing week here, our first time booking an all inclusive with tui and first time staying in a riu hotel and we wasn’t disappointed. The staff are absolutely incredible, so polite, friendly, caring, attentive and work so hard to make sure everyone has an amazing experience. staff always cleaning making sure it’s remains a high standard, the chefs cook the food to perfection, the housekeeping staff keep your rooms clean and tidy every day, reception staff always on hand to help, entertainment staff put on fantastic entertainment for all to enjoy and create an amazing fun and enjoyable atmosphere. Having SEN children, this place was amazing, quiet apartments, fantastic variety of foods, even for fussy (beige) eaters. pools very clean and are cleaned every morning. There were 4 family pools 1 adult only pool bar and 2 kids pools with slides and splash park. the resort is a 5 min walk from the beach if you wanted a change of scenery. there’s not much to do outside the resort as you would have to drive/get taxi to go into town which is about 30mins away. as a family of four we thought this place was fantastic value for money and would definitely return to this place."

"This hotel was extremely well kept and staff were very friendly. The rooms were modern and the walk-in shower and air-conditioning was good. There are plenty of pools here and plenty of sun lounges. The food was really good at the buffet restaurant but the Spanish restaurant was excellent. I only complaint was that it took three hours for us to have our room from when we checked in at 12:30"

"We arrived and check-in was pretty plain sailing. Our rooms were okay, but we had constant problems with everything feeling damp, and there were ants everywhere throughout our stay. The air conditioning also didn’t work properly. On a positive note, the cleaners came every day and did a good job. Breakfast was what you’d expect and was probably the best meal of the day. The Pepi stand serving burgers, hot dogs and similar food was good for the first couple of days. However, lunch and dinner were very repetitive, with almost the same choices every day, so everyone quickly got bored of the food. I have a daughter who is autistic, and she could only really eat chips all week because there weren’t many child-friendly options available. The drinks were okay, but nothing special. I was even moaned at by a member of staff for asking for a latte! 🙈 It also seemed strange that there wasn’t an ice cream stall available during the day for the children. The pools were nice enough, but the kids were constantly being told they weren’t allowed inflatables, balls or even cups, regardless of which pool we used. They did really enjoy the soft play area and the children’s pool. The art studio was lovely too, although it was quite expensive. The evening shows were very hit and miss. Everything was in Spanish, so the children didn’t understand much of what was going on. The kids’ club was also entirely in Spanish, so they didn’t enjoy going as it didn’t feel like it catered for English-speaking children. Location wasn’t great, there was nothing around to go to or go out and eat. Overall, we were pretty disappointed. We’ve previously stayed at TUI Sensatori and Holiday Village resorts, and they were far better in terms of food, entertainment and facilities. Personally, I wouldn’t rate this hotel as 4.5 stars."
