Parador de Mojacar

"A week of relaxation at the beach Parador, in a beautiful junior suite that fully met all our expectations. Mojacar, located somewhat away from mass tourism, was a good choice for a one-week stay. The well-maintained grounds with a pool in a fairly quiet area invite you to linger. Everything was very clean, and the entire hotel staff was extremely friendly and professional. In September, there was a colorful mix of nationalities, and many Spaniards were also to be found. The café lobby was very spacious, and the same applies to the restaurant area. We were already used to the somewhat complicated access to the accommodation from other properties, and it turned out to be easily manageable for us. The breakfast buffet was totally fine and left nothing to be desired. Our half-board also included dinner. Appetizers and desserts met our expectations. The main courses did not reach the usual good Parador standard. There was a lack of both fish and meat quality, but above all, the preparation was tasteless; much of it was also grilled for too long, in particular the garnish contained no stylish sauces and seemed monotonous, as well as uninspired. Only the salt-crusted sea bream, which we ordered 3 times out of necessity, was a delight. Fortunately, the Paradores work almost exclusively with local staff, but experience gained in the supra-regional sector and appropriate training are indispensable in tourism; this must also include the kitchen staff, especially the kitchen management. The wine list contained numerous wines, but all only in the lower range; perhaps one could improve something there. Fortunately, we were able to keep the room until 3:00 PM on the day of departure, thank you very much! It should also be mentioned that we always travel without a rental car and rely on taxis, but those in Mojacar set their own prices, drive without a taximeter, and are priced around 20% above the usual rates in Andalusia, with the tolerance of the local authorities."
