Poseidon La Manga Hotel & Spa - Designed for Adults

"My sister and I visited in August and were a little disappointed with our stay. The floor in our room was filthy when we checked in so we asked for this to be cleaned. Well I honestly couldn’t tell you if it had been done or not! The sliding door onto the balcony did not lock or shut properly. I did mention this to reception but nothing was done about it during our stay. We were on the 6th floor so locking wasn’t the end of the world. The beds are very hard. The pool does not open until 10:30am every day. The hotel is meant to be adults only however there were a few young children in the pool when we were there. The Spa was fully booked when we arrived so we weren’t able to have any treatment however every time we went down there it was empty. The bar also does not open until 10:30. One morning I really wanted a bottle of water so asked reception if they had any and I was told I had to wait until 10:30. There is a vending machine but we could not get it to work. The hotel is in a nice location on the strip with nice sea views. I personally would not stay here again"

"Had a lovely all inclusive stay here Aug 26. From the moment we arrived to leaving the staff were amazing, friendly, helpful, and extremely hardworking. We were aware when booking that this was mainly a Spanish tourist destination, and that was apparent by the number of Spanish guests in the hotel, but along with other international guests we were made extremely welcome. It seems like most of the staff spoke a range of different languages, their English was excellent and they considered, catered for, and included everyone. The hotel is immaculately clean and well maintained. The outdoor space is modern and well equipped with a designated pool space separated from the bar, with two jacuzzis, plenty of sun beds, parasols, and day beds, perfect if you want to spend the day by the pool. The bar serves a variety of drinks and light snacks all day and night, with a good range of branded spirits, mixers, and well known cocktails included in the AI package and we made good use of this! Plain coffees and slushes are also included, and there are lots of other options available at additional cost. Bar staff are amazing, they don’t stop all day but work hard with very good grace. The entertainer is also very good, we didn’t get his name but he’s great at trying to include everyone, does aqua aerobics every day, bingo and music on an evening, and there were even a couple of live singers that got people up dancing. The restaurant is your typical self serve AI buffet style but there was always a good range of different options to suit everyone. If on the AI package you present your room card on entry to the dining room and are given a paper slip with your room number on and find yourself a table, the wait staff will then come and take your drinks orders, bring them to your table and write on your slip. - local beer, wines, and water are all fully comped, spirits etc. are not available in the restaurant. If you order a bottle of wine and don’t finish it they will recork it for you, add a collar with your room number on it and save it for you for another evening. You then return the slip to the person on the door as you leave, I assume this is so they can monitor usage for their own records but obviously you don’t pay any extra for this unless you’re not full board. The restaurant staff are constantly on the go, clearing plates, cleaning tables, bringing drinks. Breakfast has the usual continental selection - self serve hot drinks and juices, cooked meats, cheeses, eggs, bread, pastries, yoghurts, fruit (fresh and dried), chia seeds, nuts etc. - but also cooked options - usually bacon, several different British and continental sausages, mushrooms, and usually someone at the griddle making fresh eggs and pancakes or waffles whilst you wait. Lunch and dinner is usually a varied selection of salads, meat and fish dishes and vegetable sides, and there is usually a pasta or rice dish (the paella at lunchtime is fab!). These are constantly replenished, and there is usually fries and a fresh meat or fish dish being cooked at the griddle. There’s a whole dessert section with cakes, jellies, and various milk/caramel puddings along with plenty more fresh fruit (melon, kiwi, whole peaches etc.). You’ll find something to suit everyone unless you are extremely fussy. The spa on the basement floor is fantastic. 2 steam rooms, 2 saunas, foot baths, cold plunge, small pool with various sensory jets and showers. All lovely. You need to book in for a specified hour the day before, by going to reception in the spa, they’ll take your room number and give you a time. When you arrive you’re given a towel, spa flip flops, and a locker key for your belongings. A water fountain is available inside the spa if you’re thirsty. We booked a couple of different massages with the qualified physios over the week and they were amazing, very relaxing and a really good price (around 40euros each). Outside the hotel, there’s very little for tourists - it appears to be mainly residential properties with a walk of about half a mile to a decent restaurant. There appear to be a couple of small cafe/coffehouses/small supermarkets and souvenir shops selling the usual, within a short walking distance. Either side of the hotel you’ll find roads down to the beaches (one to the sea, the other side to the bay), where you can either take your towels and find a spot or walk a short way to hire a bed and parasol. Many of the Spanish guests in the hotel seemed to head out for the day with a fold up chair, we had a walk out a few times to have a look around but didn’t find much and tended to stay around the hotel as this was just a very chilled holiday for us after previous very busy city breaks. If you like something a bit livelier with a bit of nightlife and options to visit other parts of the resort or eat out elsewhere then this might not be the place for you, but this hotel is perfect for an all inclusive adults only relaxing poolside break where you can enjoy everything the hotel offers. Special mention to Andres on reception who was a star in helping us out of a tight spot when our airport transfer didn’t turn up (slept in!) and spoke with him and arranged us an alternative taxi very quickly to make sure we made our flight on time."

"Nice quite hotel, great sea view from my room, some stains on the wall. Excellent wifi, room cleaned every day, was given 2 bottles of water on some days but not others. Drinks ok, though you can't get cava or Baileys on the all inc, you can get Malibu but they were frequently running out of it. Mainly Spanish clientele, most of whom didn't appear to be all inc, though there were a group of 4 jocks who had a great time by the sound of it ! Food very good, they did beef on a couple of evenings and it was delicious. Not really anywhere to go in the evening if you want to get out of the hotel, though you could get taxis or the bus up and down the La Manga strip."
