Countryside calm with coastal perks
Looking for a calm Costa Cálida base with a more local, countryside feel than the region’s beach resorts? Fuente Alamo is set inland in Murcia, it’s a good choice if you like sunshine, space, and the freedom to explore by car. The town has a traditional Spanish pace, with cafés, restaurants, shops, and weekly market life giving it a grounded, lived-in charm.
This part of the region works well for easy-going escapes with a side of adventure. Golf is a big draw nearby, especially around Hacienda del Álamo, while the surrounding countryside is made for scenic drives, relaxed walks, and slow days under big blue skies. When the coast calls, the beaches of Mazarrón, the Mar Menor, and the wider Costa Cálida are within reach, so you can swap inland calm for sea swims, beach bars, and waterfront dinners whenever the mood strikes.
Fuente Álamo is also well placed for day trips. Cartagena brings Roman ruins, harbour views, museums, and tapas-filled streets, while Murcia city offers cathedral squares, shopping, and excellent food. After a day out, head back for a quieter evening, a local meal, and the sort of sunset that makes doing very little feel like a solid plan.
