Sumus Stella & Spa

"We have just returned from a lovely week away in Sumus hotel. Here is my honest review: Location- very good location in the middle of town, with restaurants, bars and shops on the door step. The yellow sand beach is 10- 15 min walk away. There is also a lovely walk along the beach on the public path. The train station is around 5 min away, where you can travel to Barcelona and Girona, which are around 1 hour away by train. Trips- we visited Montserrat church and monastery by the organised trip, which we arranged through the hotel reception. The beautiful church is in the mountains. This is a holy place, which is breath takingly spectacular! The church is so beautiful. You can see the Madonna in the church, who is the patron of the church. I would highly recommend the visit. Food - excellent. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are of excellent quality and varied. My compliments to the chef! Bar- very good. We were all inclusive. You have to show your room card every time you order drinks. Bar staff are very friendly, and will bring drinks to your table or your sun bed. Pool area- kept clean. The swimming pool is not very big. We visited in October and there were plenty of empty sunbeds. There's also a small pool for young children, although this hotel appears to be primarily aimed to cater for adults. Rooms- quite spacious, and cleaned daily. Towels changed also daily if you leave your towels on the floor. The cleaners work very hard. Entertainment- aimed at adults. There were singers most days, and one magic show. In my opinion, the singers were average and quite boring, but the majuc show was really fun! The magician was very entertaining and the room was full of guests, watching his act! I would suggest to reduce singing acts and bring in more magic, dance and acrobats! Overall, we loved our stay at Sumus hotel. I would recommend this hotel."

"All inclusive is not all inclusive, you can only have drinks that do not have a star by them, so a lot of soft drinks were not included as part of all inclusive option. Most Staff were not warm or welcoming, very different to other hotels we have stayed in. Rooms are small and walls are paper thin that you can hear a full conversation of those in room next door. There was black mould in bathroom and around the edges of sink was dirty on arrival to room Our feet were dirty within a few minutes of being in our room. Other parts of hotel were clean, such as bar/ entrance/ pool area. The pool is no where near as big as pictured but it was too cold to use. Main message after travelling to a lot of all inclusive hotels this should not be considered as such. Over all Very underwhelming."

"Good all round experience good food would suggest going out to eat Friday to Sunday as restaurant is over crowded and food standard slips but overall a great comfortable hotel clean and friendly"
