With its avant-garde entranceway and glass-fronted exterior, the Port Vista Oro Hotel is up there with Benidorm’s most contemporary bases. It’s in a brilliant location, too, right in the heart of town and surrounded by tapas bars, pubs and family-run restaurants. You’re also within easy reach of two beaches here – Poniente and Levante – two of the region’s best silky stretches, are less than a 10-minute walk away.
The hotel brags a lovely pool scene. You get a good-size number in the middle of the complex, which comes with a children’s section and is surrounded by loungers, greenery and rainbow-hued seating. A neighbouring bar is available for cold drinks, and this the setting for daytime entertainment, like bingo and quizzes. All the action goes on into the evening, too, switching to shows and local dancing and musical performances when the sun goes down.
When you’re peckish, you’ve got two spots to choose from. The main buffet eatery is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and it’s a showcase of round-the-world flavours, with favourites like Italian and local Spanish cuisine making a regular appearance. Elsewhere, you’ve got Bar Cafeteria, which serves light bites throughout the day.
