Melia Benidorm

"A real mix of negatives & positives at the melia benidorm. On arrival the reception area & surroundings look really nice. Lidlington across the Rd which is good and a little far from the beach but still walkable. Room facing pool and under entertainment ares was noisy in night as entertainment used to go til late which was a pain if u want an early night. Room was dated , not cleaned well enough and the seal around bath/shower was coming away so leaking into next door Room and on floor in hall- not good. Safe was cellotaped inside to keep batteries in. Tatty and not good Room for what is supposed to be 4 star. The pool however is the saving grace and was the main point of booking this cheap break away and is excellent and must be 1 of largest in benidorm so that was the highlight of the stay. Breakfast good and plenty there and a big room and plenty of bars and restaurants near by. Hotel needs updating and to be better cleaned to be a 4 star in mu opinion."

"We stayed in this hotel for the week in August. It was an amazing stay. The pool is fabulous with plenty sun and shade. The food was consistently good all week with plenty choice. Staff at check-in were friendly. The room was relatively clean, not immaculate. The rituals toiletries were a nice touch of luxury. However, we have just been staying in a nearby hotel and decided to call in to Melia for a lunchtime drink. The barman was going to charge me €35 for 3 smoothies which I know were under €6 euros each. He held up the machine for me to tap my card deliberately concealing the €35. When I asked to see the amount, he flusteredly said he had charged me for 4 drinks in error. This still didn’t add up. I told him the price of the drinks. Obviously this marred my opinion of the hotel."

"We went as a family with our autistic daughter. Before we went we specifically asked for a quiet room. They put us in a room that was directly above where the live music was playing every night. We asked for another room but there wasnt any available evven though we had asked before we even flew to Benidorm. Our room was dirty, the bathroom wasnt cleaned before we arrived. Broken tiles and mould around the bath. A thick grime line inside the bath. So I had to thoroughly clean our room before we could really use it! We were there 6 nights and our bed sheets were only changed once. We asked on several occasions for our room to be cleaned, but all they did was make our bed with dirty sheets. We also had cockroaches in our room! Again we asked to be moved, all they said was sorry we havent got any other rooms available, and when the cleaners came to "clean" the room they just made the bed! We experienced very rude staff, that couldnt crack a smile. In the indoor swimming pool you have to wear a swimming cap, my daughter is autistic. She wont wear anything on her head. The member of staff was rude and kept coming in to say we had to get out because my daughter wouldnt wear one. Even though we had explained enough times why she wouldnt. We went all inclusive. But when we asked for certain drinks and food, we were told no because certain food and drinks were NOT all inclusive even though I paid a stupid amount of money for all inclusive, which should mean all food and drink is all inclusive! But it isnt! We were treated very unfairly. The breakfast was okay, but we ate out every night because the dinner wasnt and lunch wasnt very nice and wasnt many options. So again I paid so much for all inclusive, yet could barely use it. Bar staff were rude and abrupt with us outside by the pool. Again told us we couldnt have certain drinks because they were not all inclusive! Even though they should have been! How this place is rated 4 star I have no idea. Because it is far from that. Its all for looks. Dont beleive this place is all inclusive because its not. Wont ever be coming back."
