Eurostars Portico Alicante

"This is not the first time I have used this hotel, but this time it was during the Alicante fair; I know it and I am aware that there are bands and noise in the streets, but they did not inform us, or at least not adequately, that there would be a lot of noise and that we could not sleep until 3-4 in the morning. For a price of 270 euros per night, frankly, that is not acceptable. The main machine in their small gym was also not working. Poor services."

"If I return to Alicante for pending circumstances, do not look for me in this hotel. The management claims it has 5*****. Well, the facilities are more like those of a 3-star hotel and very low quality. There are 2 and 3-star hotels that are more deserving than the one we are referring to. The staff does what they can, but if the management does not support them, everything falls apart. It's a shame regarding the service, cleanliness, and facilities. It is not recommended under any circumstances."

"Pros: This Hotel is in a fabulous location. Easy access to everting Alicante has to offer. We booked a room with a city view which was really nice. The room was a decent size with windows overlooking the square and was situated over one of the arches en route to various restaurants. It was in the middle of everything yet quiet when the windows, (we had three) were closed. The mini bar was well stocked there was a safe and plenty of room to hang your clothes. There was a decent hairdryer and toiletries in the bathroom. Along with robes and slippers. All the norm for a 5 star hotel. Cons: We arrived early as we were staying in another Spanish location and wanted to finish our stay in Alicante. There was no Welcome to our hotel from the check in staff and no smiles. Training was in process and although we said it was fine and everyone has to learn we were at the desk having questions shot us for quite a while. Again no thank you for your patience. We were advised that we would get a call if our room was ready earlier than 4:00pm. Yes 4:00 pm after paying over Euros340 for two nights. The call did not come and we went back to the hotel as suggested at 3:00pm. Our room was ready but we were advised when we enquired about getting a phone call to advise us that the room was ready that a call was made but I did not answer. It transpired that the desk had the incorrect phone number.{not my doing as my phone number was on my booking info] I said that they could have emailed as they had the correct email address. Said the room had only just become available!! The room was lovely although it was freezing as the air con was set to freezing. We did increase the temp but it was still cold. The only way we could sleep without being cold was to open one of the windows. The shower went from ok to scalding in a few seconds and the towels were the sort I would have put in the bin. Other guests in the bar more or less experienced the same as we did. We did not eat there but had a cocktail on the roof terrace. The first night the drinks were amazing. Best Bramble I have ever had. The second night the same drink was awful and I had to return it as there was around three times the amount of creme de cassis in the mix. Totally undrinkable. On departure we did not get a did you enjoy your stay or even a thank you for your custom. Not a 5 star experience in any way. Would we return - No Stayed in the Melia 10 days earlier and in our opinion was much better. Staff valued their customers did not feel that if mattered if we returned or not."
