"Pros - clean and tidy not only in rooms but throughout hotel. Staff nice. It was quiet did not hear any noise at all. Comfortable beds. Cons- the room we were in had the bed slanted and only one side had head space the other side had a gap in wall which went into bathroom with no side light or side table. In the room where shower was there were hangers to hang your clothes up. The fridge and safe were also in this room which had a curtain instead of door. The toilet and sink were entered through a door from shower room. The buffet was mediocre. You had to go up to ask for hot drinks and wait for them. The cereal was on this bar but only full cream milk was on the bar any other milk you had to ask for. This hotel is advertised as a four star hotel I presume because it has a gym sauna and plunge pool. I am not writing these comments as negative but it is just little things that spoil this hotel."

"2nd stay, still satisfied with my choice. Pleasant room, great bedding, perfect cleaning, well soundproofed. 800 meters from La Concha, very quick on foot. Hotel parking and nearby. Prices generally high but not disappointed. I didn't have breakfast, preferring the nearby bakeries. I would return there with pleasure."

"We stayed at the Axel Hotel San Sebastián and, overall, it’s a nice, modern hotel in a good location. However, there are a few things you may want to know before booking. Firstly, the hotel isn’t exactly advertised as a rainbow hotel, but let’s just say it doesn’t take long after arriving to realise there may be a rainbow somewhere nearby. 🌈 Absolutely no issue whatsoever — it just amused us that it seemed considerably more obvious in person than it did when booking. Then there’s the “self-parking available.” Technically, yes. In the same way that technically there are enough lifeboats if only 20% of the Titanic turns up. A member of staff told us the hotel has around 20 parking spaces for 99 rooms. So unless you arrive early, are exceptionally lucky, or have previously won the Spanish National Lottery, there’s a decent chance your car will be enjoying its own separate holiday in an underground car park about a 10-minute walk away. But my favourite feature has to be the advertised “soundproof rooms.” I can confirm that the room was successfully soundproof against absolutely nothing happening in the room above us. For approximately 90 minutes, the two ladies upstairs appeared to be having a considerably better evening than we were. There were bumps. There were bangs. There were various other noises. And judging by the enthusiastic soundtrack coming through the ceiling, customer satisfaction upstairs was considerably higher than average. At one point I considered phoning reception, but frankly after that level of commitment it seemed rude to interrupt. So, in summary: Nice hotel. Friendly staff. Good location. Parking availability should probably come with an asterisk the size of Spain. Soundproofing appears to be more of an aspiration than an engineering specification. Would I stay again? Possibly. But next time I’ll arrive without a car and request a room on the top floor. 🌈😂"
