Radisson Blu 1882 Hotel Barcelona Sagrada Familia

"I was pleased with this hotel. The location is good, near La Sagrada Família (5 min walk) but far enough away to not be amongst the tourist traps. Some nice cafes and restaurants within easy walking distance. The rooftop bar and pool were excellent, with great views, but the pool area did get quite busy in the afternoon. Service was good, allowing late checkout without charge (but this isn’t guaranteed, you have to ask on the day). Not cheap, but comparable to other similar hotels. It is quite a long way from the old town/beaches but taxis are reasonable and subway nearby. The interior rooms are quiet but dark, looking into a covered courtyard - but we didn’t spend much time in them and comfortable to sleep so no complaints."

"Stayed here for one night in August 26, after being unable to extend our stay at another hotel in the city. Stayed on the 3rd floor Firstly the location is great for the Sagrada Familia and the surrounding streets are full of hustle and bustle and good restaurants. Where the hotel is located is on quite a noisy crossroads, however the soundproofing is 10/10 and you wont hear a thing from the rooms. Supermarket opposite the front door is quite handy. My issues are minor, for what is a very nice hotel. I hold the top member status for Radisson hotels and my gripes mainly refer to the loyalty scheme rather than the hotel itself. The check in was tediously slow. Probably the slowest Ive ever experienced at any hotel. I pre checked in on the Radisson app and all I had to do was collect the key for the room. The process took 20 minutes for what is normally a 30 second task. Whilst the receptionist was very friendly, the process felt very disjointed. The wrong room type was allocated twice. When I asked about complimentary room upgrades for tiered members, I was told ‘unfortunately not as there was no space’ despite room upgrades being available on the app and booking.com The hotel itself feels modern and fresh, the bar and lobby area are a relaxing place to be and the pool terrace is a nice place to unwind in the evening after a day in the city. Space for loungers is limited and towels being left on beds to reserve them all day could be policed better. The pool bar does good cocktails and the barman was very friendly. The room was clean and tidy. However shower amenities were empty. The spring mattress on the bed had definitely seen better days and was quite uncomfortable for a room that should have been £200 a night on the night of booking. A topper definitely was needed. Pillows were adequate, but nothing special. All in all, a decent stay, however a disjointed check in and uncomfortable bed left some bits to be desired. I would stay here again, however the price certainly reflects the hotels location as opposed to the rooms. Whilst I booked mainly with points, I think Id be quite disappointed if Id spent actual money on the advertised rate of the room"
