Occidental Diagonal 414

"Great location, the staff were very friendly and honest about the room I booked (internal with no views). Jose offered me an upgrade for Euro20 which I gladly took. The view from my balcony was absolutely beautiful, especially in the morning when the sun was coming up. Front Desk lady was very helpful - managed to get me a massage appointment for the next day. Room a little small - not enough floor space to accommodate a massage table brought by the therapist. I do like the open concept layout of the room, especially the sliding doors for shower and toilet. Room was very clean. Would have preferred a full size wardrobe. Love the drawer safe even though i couldn't fit my laptop in it (not the hotel's fault, my laptop was extra large). Highly recommend for solo travelers. I booked using reward points but believe the price would have been around AUD800 which is very expensive"

"We usually frequent the Hyatt/Hilton/Marriotts and accidentally came across the Barcelo chain which is Spanish owned. It was a very good experience. The hotel was modern and clean and the staff were very friendly. Special kudos to the front desk person (Jose) and the guy who does the breakfast (tall and thin, did not catch his name). The room's design is odd. The sink is inside the room and there is a separate shower and a separate WC. In the room but enclosed in glass "box". So no issues if travel with family but would not be able to feel comfy if sharing a room with a stranger eg on a tour or a business trip. We had an inside room which faced a wall and had no no noise. There is metro under you so would not stay below the 3rd floor if possible. No issues with housekeeping and the sleep was great. Diagonal is a busy street and not in a 'touristy' part of town which is the Gothic old areas. So if you want walking distance to most things, this would not be the best choice. We did not use public transport and used uber and taxi which surprisingly was not always findable. Overall, it was a great stay and hotel and would consider it if and when visit Barcelona again."

"We were a little worried because it was the first time we were using this hotel chain. In the end, we can say that it was an excellent choice, everything went great and we were totally satisfied."
