"This was our first stay at this hotel. In our previous visits to Barcelona we have stayed in similar categories of hotels so I can compare.
Location: the biggest advantage of the hotel . It is on Portal D Angel street which is between Poaca Catalunya and Ramblas , 3-5 minutes walk to each. The street is wide and lively with lots of shops and small cafes. Very easy to access to Saba parking nearby. The hotel is situated in an old building and well preserved. It is adjacent to another building where the active construction work is ongoing so there is lots of noise and dust. But it didn’t bother us much as we had a room facing the inner walls.
Rooms: we had two rooms. The single one was very small - probably 12 sqm, but it was ok for our daughter. It had a small balcony facing the street. But the double room we had was the worse room we ever had in any hotel we stayed in the world. It was facing the inner walls - literally. No sunlight , next room’s window was almost within arms length and clearly visible inside. The size was very small for two people . No way to put two large suitcases without blocking the way. This is the main reason I wanted to give the hotel 1 star. But the situation was saved by the nice staff , especially the cleaning staff and less so by the reception.
For fairness we were offered to move to another room on our fourth day but we declined as it wouldn’t make sense for us to pack and unpack for the remaining few days . Generally , the ladies working during the daytime were nice , but don’t expect smiles and greetings like you would get in higher category hotels. It is a real 3 stars.
One morning there was lots of shouting from the staff in the corridors to each other so I woke up as the noise insulation doesn’t really exist. A few other mornings were ok. So the quality of sleep varied.
The amenities in the room were just ok , worse than in the same category hotels in the area. No slippers or bathrobe, but the bathroom was a good size.
The hotel has a pool but we didn’t check it out , neither did we have breakfast.
The brighest part was the cleaning staff who would greet you with a smile in the corridors which is unusual for the 3 star hotel. Why the other departments can’t be as welcoming is a mystery.
So all in all, it was not the best stay in Barcelona due to the very bad room and for this reason we will not be coming back. There are much better hotels in the area . The only town reasons I give them “average” rating are location and the housekeeping."
