"We never really stayed in 3 star hotels so I was a bit worried what we would get.
I chose the hotel due to location and the very good reviews . And we were not disappointed. The hotel states it is a 3 star, but in terms of the quality of the room and food, it is better that many 4 stars in Europe .
It is on the Ferran street which runs perpendicularly to La Rambla . Ferran is a very lively street with lots of restaurants and smaller shops. With La Rambla undergoing serious renovations, Ferran now looks more popular, hence crowds . But the noise was not a problem for us, especially when the windows are closed - excellent noise-proofing.
There is no lobby , only a small reception desk manned by 1 person from 7 am till 11 pm. The only way to contact them is via WhatsApp which they would share before the arrival. Generally I found it quick enough to deal with anything required. The receptionists were all nice people.
The only thing is between 11 pm and 7 pm the only person available at the reception is the night security who spoke no English. Bear this fact in mind.
The room was double comfort, which they also call a suite . It was small , max 18 sqm, with a very small balcony (with one very very small stool) with the Ferran view. It was very clean and housekeeping deserves all the praise. Everything was functional and ergonomic for such a small space. The bed was comfortable.
There is no entry cards - you are given a code to enter both the main entrance and the room. In our case, it malfunctioned once at 5 am , so we had to deal with the night guard who tried to fix it but after 30 minutes gave up and open the door with the physical key . The following morning it was fixed .
The restaurant at the hotel serves one of the best breakfasts we have ever had in Barcelona. The pastries and omelette were very good. The service might first seem a bit slow or not too courteous, but it is ok - the guys were doing their best to serve the guests. We also had a dinner once - the paella was good, but the tagliatelle was better . Highly recommended.
In terms of other options to eat , there’s lots of cafes and bakeries literally out of the door.
We liked Casa Pince very much and will plan to stay here again."
