Cotton House Autograph Collection

"This is a beautiful hotel. Shame we couldn't use most of it. Why, you ask? Because the Cotton House books weddings, which can basically take over the public spaces of the hotel. So that beautiful restaurant - the lovely bar - the outside terrace space - the Library sitting room: all could be off limits to you like they were to us. To be clear - we could not go to the bar or terrace on Thursday for lunch. After a day of sightseeing on Friday, we were looking forward to getting a drink at the bar and enjoying it on the terrace - then having dinner at the restaurant. All those spaces were closed to hotel guests. Honestly, it's close to a bait and switch. Lure you in with the photos, then deny access with zero advance notice. Obviously, a hotel knows months in advance when they book a wedding. They could have told us. But they choose not to disclose this relevant info and spring it on us the morning of the closure. It's a conscious business decision to take profits while not delivering the guest experience they promise. There were literally hotel personal standing at access points, warning us (nicely of course) that we couldn't go to the library, restaurant, terrace or bar. If you are planning on staying on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday, I would check with them to see if you will have access. Also - the lovely rooftop pool bar is closed for the season so check that as well. You can bring drinks up, but no bar there. Rooms are very nice, service is good. But getting shut out of amenities without advance notice is unacceptable. I was refunded 16% of the huge number of Marriott points I spent. If I had known, I would never have booked this hotel."

"This is an extremely disappointing hotel. Staff is cold, impatient and haughty. Location is noisy, and rooms are worn and very much in need of renovation. I’d never stay here again.."

"Fantastic hotel in the heart of Barcelona. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, the breakfast area is beautiful, and the food is very good. If there is one negative it's the size of the pool area, but everything else is great. I have stayed in Marriotts all over the world and this one was fantastic, would highly recommend"
