"This hotel is 5 star and absolutely lovely. Unfortunately when we were there, there was an EU summit with 13 European presidents in attendance. So, security was as tight as an airport in order to even enter the hotel. The hotel room was very spacious and modern. Lovely bathroom albeit another low toilet. The food in the restaurant was great for breakfast with lots of variety although no egg station. Great cappuccino machine. Would definitely recommend."

"The grounds are stunning immaculately clean, lush, and green, with beautifully maintained gardens and pools that make strolling through the resort a pleasure. We stayed in a standard room overlooking the main pool area; it was bright, spacious, and kept spotless daily by the incredibly attentive housekeeping team. The beach area was another highlight for us. It has smooth, easy entry into the crystal-clear water, and there are plenty of comfortable sun loungers available without having to race down early in the morning. Food-wise, the buffet offered a solid selection with daily variations. We especially loved the grilled dishes prepared fresh during dinner and the fresh pastries served every morning. The staff throughout the resort, from the bartenders near the pool to the reception team, were consistently friendly, respectful, and eager to help. While the resort itself is wonderful, no trip to Egypt is complete without exploring its rich history and desert landscapes! A quick tip for future travelers: Do not buy your excursions through the hotel guides! Their prices are excessively marked up for the exact same itineraries. Instead, we booked all our trips with a local company called Sheriff Egypt. You can easily find them online by searching their name. Their prices are significantly lower than the hotel representatives', and their customer service is top-notch. Here are the two excursions we booked with them that made our vacation truly memorable: Luxor Day Trip (Mini-Group up to 8 people): This was the absolute highlight of our entire trip. Booking the small-group option (max 8 people) made a world of difference compared to the crowded 40-person buses. We traveled in a modern, air-conditioned minibus, arrived at Karnak Temple and the Valley of the Kings ahead of the huge tour crowds, and had a dedicated guide who answered all our questions without rushing us. Desert Quad Bike Safari: My husband was super excited about this one, and it did not disappoint! Riding quad bikes across the desert dunes at sunset was an exhilarating adrenaline rush. The trip was well-organized, felt very safe, and ended with a lovely traditional tea experience at a Bedouin camp. Overall, Grand Plaza Hotel was a fantastic base for a relaxing vacation."

"Had to book this last minute as my original hotel booking had been cancelled but it was worth the extra money. Reception staff are very helpful, reception area is stunning. Rooms are large and beautifully decorated, shower is huge and toiletries provided. Fantastic views of the city. Just a 5 minute walk to the bus station if you want to take a trip to lake Bled or a 5 minute walk the other way into the heart of the city and the river."
