Torel 1884 Suites and Apartments

"The staff were friendly and very helpful. We stayed in a Flores apartment on the first floor overlooking the street. For us it was too noisy at night. Buskers stood underneath our balcony serenading the diners across the narrow pedestrian street. We had singers, guitar and cello players and violinists of different calibres. This went on until 10pm-12pm at night. Ear plugs provided by the hotel didn’t have much impact, neither did the double glazing. The apartment itself was adequate - a small bedroom with room for one suitcase and no bedside tables. My husband’s suitcase stayed in the living area. The kitchen and living area were fine. The sliding bathroom door, however, had no lock or catch mechanism and kept sliding open, so no privacy. Again, despite these things, the staff were absolutely lovely and couldn’t do enough to assist. If we visit again, we wouldn’t choose an apartment overlooking the pedestrian street."

"This beautiful hotel outdoes itself in every way. From the towering ceilings and enormous surrounding balconies of the common areas to the perfectly and eclectically decorated library and surrounding reading books, this is the kind of hotel you want to hurry back to from the bustle of the city. Every detail has been curated with just the right personal touch, from the plate of sweets or cookies and bottle of champagne waiting for us each day in our room, and lovely bar left accessible in the library on the honor system- I cannot think of a thing I would want to change. The staff all go above and beyond, and the comfort is unparalleled. We will for sure be back at the Torel 1884 on our next visit to Porto and tell our friends not to miss this gem!!!"

"Hotel was absolutely beautiful but we got relegated to the apartments a couple blocks away. When you book, they don’t alert you to this possibility. The apartment had a mildewy smell and was spacious but had no ambience like the hotel. Service and staff are exceptional but make sure to stay at the hotel, not the apartments!"
