Oca Bom Successo Hotel

"I paid and checked in as was encouraged with the endless messages using online checkin. We arrived at our room with a ‘make up my room’ sign hanging on the door, which in this hotel to the cleaning staff is, ignore with your life because despite the previous guests having checked out of the room it was in a stake of disarray. We went back to reception to get not much of an apology, most hotels would move you to a room that was ready but nope not this one - I even asked! We were told to wait. We held luggage in storage, went for a coffee came back a few hours later to be greeted by ‘we are fully booked, your room has been moved to another hotel’ …‘booking.com have made a mistake and you should have received an email’ no email received, was told to sit and and wait for it! I fought back, stating I paid for the room, and two days parking… when I said I paid for my room, my room, the original room was miraculously available. They then claimed it was another person with the same name… the chances?! A very weak apology, for a major F-up. As for the room, the shower was disgusting and smelled of mould, I felt dirty getting out of it. I flagged this to house keeping but nothing was done. Wee stains from previous guest remained around the toilet. If sharing a room make sure it’s with someone you’re married to for a long time, there’s no privacy the way the bathroom is configured. One bottle of water provided for the entire stay, one coffee sachet for two guests. Bring earplugs as the windows do not block out street noise and it’s very moat night. The coffee at breakfast was very good as were the Portuguese tarts but the rest didn’t do much for me. I found front desk staff not suited to working in a hotel. Parking in the carpark beside the hotel €15 for 24 hrs with €10 cash deposit for the card. Would recommend the restaurants Capa Negra II and Casa Apricola a short walk from the hotel."

"A 10 night stay while in Porto. Traveled solo. Overall a decent stay. The hotel is presumably very new, building construction completed in 2025. Positives: - Location is decent, a 20 minute walk from the city centre and it's close to a metro station, although the pink line construction probably affects the metro in this area. - There's a shopping centre and a good quality food court (Mercado Bom Sucesso) just around the corner. Did not try the hotel restaurant. - The breakfast for portuguese standards was good: fresh juices, different kind of breads, yoghurt, fresh fruits and desserts were on the breakfast table. - The staff seemed friendly. - The interior was modern and clean. Housekeeping functioned well. - Good air conditioning that can be adjusted from the panel. Negatives: - The hotel is located on the side of a busy road that causes significant traffic noise during day and night. If you are staying in a room that is located on the side the street, you will need earplugs to sleep. I normally use earplugs during sleep so this was not a big deal for me, but the noise level is rather disturbing for a newly-built hotel. The windows simply do not have adequate noise dampening qualities that you would expect from a modern building. Such a shame. YOU WILL NEED TO BRING EARPLUGS. - The shower drainage was problematic. If you take a shower that is more than 5 minutes, the water will pool on the floor of the shower and will leak from the shower cabinet onto the floor. Kind of tells you about the build quality of this hotel, really. - Soundproofing isn't all that good. You are going to hear noises from the corridor and possibly from other rooms. - No iron & ironing board on the room. Usually 4 star hotels have those. - The bed was surprisingly hard. For a 80kg person the bed was too firm, the bed was probably designed for a heavier person (over 100kgs). There were four pillows on the bed, two of those were memory-foam-like hard style which I did not like. Overall the hotel is a decent budget choice for a short stay especially if you're traveling alone. Choose it if you get a good deal, otherwise I'm sure there are better hotels available. I would not pick this hotel if you are traveling with your companion or if you are sensitive to noise from the street."

"We had an incredible experience at Oca Bom Sucesso in Porto! After unexpected travel delays, we arrived stressed and without lodging. Diogo Mendes, the front desk clerk, went above and beyond to secure accommodations for our group—quickly, kindly, and without hesitation. His professionalism and compassion turned a chaotic situation into a comforting one. The hotel itself is modern, clean, and beautifully maintained with excellent amenities.
