"We stayed for week at the Gaia Residence in Villa Nova. The room and bedding were comfortable but would have been complete if there were free private tv channels offered for the price and stars that we paid for. Villa Nova is quite isolated from and away from the hustle and bustle of Porto. The tram station is a good 10- minute walk from the hotel but we didn't mind as we landed at Villa Nova Devesas train station which was a very few kilometres as well and had to catch an intercity to Lisbon. The staff were very friendly and helpful during our stay but with huge hotels, it was understandable that the personnel touch could be sometimes missing especially when the staff are employed on casual basis. We believe that for the price we paid, there should have been better options."

"Having read some reviews, we were not expecting much but wow, were we proved wrong. We were greeted on arrival by the most welcome receptionist, the room was huge, very comfortable and had everything we needed for a short break . We experienced no issues whatsoever with noise , the bed was super comfy , aircon great. We absolutely loved Porto , yes the hotel is away from the centre , it is walkable, I did it on a hot afternoon, but turned to use uber as were very cheap. For the price we paid with easyJet, I was blown away! I had pre booked the restaurants I wanted to eat at, all were brilliant, did an amazing walking tour, Calem port lodge and fado show was incredible. The bar was a lovely place to have a glass of local wine before heading out for the evening, with lovely staff. All in all, highly recommend."
