"If you are looking for a stay in Porto that is comfortable, memorable, and where you will be treated well, look elsewhere. As a Hilton Gold member who travels extensively for both business and leisure I have generally had positive experiences at Hilton properties around the world. This particular location has been truly one of the most disappointing. I would categorize this hotel in the top 1-2 worst properties out of hundreds visited. Reason being, a friend booked a block of rooms for our trip to Porto with the agreement that we would transfer the bookings into our name and under our Hilton Honors accounts upon our arrival at the property - which we have done many times in the past - many. Upon arrival the hotel refused to allow us to transfer the rooms into our name stating it was their policy and as a result we lost points and any opportunity for an upgrade. Although disappointing, we moved past the issue. However, the property put us in one of the smallest rooms we have ever stayed in when compared to other European properties. The room was quite literally the size of a walk-in closet with no actual bathroom but a compartment for the commode, a door off the bedroom that opened to a shower, and a sink in the bedroom itself. Other rooms at the property had a proper bathroom - and despite being loyal Hilton members, we were relegated to a room in size that you would find in a hostel. There was absolutely no space for our luggage, toiletries, or to properly move about the room. It was the smallest room and set up we’ve ever experienced at a Hilton property in Europe. That said, we tried to make the best of it but the air conditioning was not working properly. We were staying with other friends who all had appropriately cool rooms. The hotel’s solution was first to give us a fan taking up more space in an already tiny, uncomfortable room. After speaking with staff several times they finally offered us a room underground. Literally a room in a sub basement of the hotel. I was rudely told to essentially take it or leave it and out of desperation to sleep in comfortable temperatures we decided to take the basement room which had a functioning air condition. I am wholeheartedly disappointed at the Se Catherdral for so many reasons among which when I book with Hilton as a gold member, I generally receive a consistent experience. We booked these rooms in January 2026 for a June 2026 trip. To travel thousands of miles internationally, be relegated to an absurdly small room with no functioning air conditioner, and receive rude treatment as a loyal Hilton member is astounding, disappointing, and something we will never forget. I cannot wait to return to Porto to stay at a hotel that will treat us with care, and offer a memorable and comfortable accommodations, with functioning amenities such as air conditioning in 90 F/32 C. If you’re looking for quality, care, comfort, and a memorable experience while in Porto, Portugal this is NOT the property for you."
