"Terrible never again the food was shocking couldn’t even chew half the meat no variety on the hot food and nothing for kids to eat no chips etc then the room I paid £700 extra to upgrade to a superior triple room with a patio as there were 3 of us we got a standard room with a tiny balcony it was shocking huge cockroaches in the room and on the balcony we did have a table in the room not that u could sit at it cause the 3 beds were in the room so no room to be able to the housekeeper was lovely and did a great job and the waiting staff were very good to this hotel is dates on the way all Inclusive works if u go don’t do all inclusive there’s fly all over all the salad and everything is out in the open not covered not good at all also do not pay out for transfer it’s 8 euro in taxi about 4 -5 mins to the hotel photos are actual photos for the £700 upgrade for superior triple room so total waste of money"

"We certainly think the hotel should be rated higher than 3 stars. Our experience was wonderful. The room was extremely spacious and comfortable as well as clean. The maid service was very very good. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. We only took bed and breakfast for this stay and there was plenty of choice from fresh produce and a fairly good cooked choice if you wished. This is our third stay at the Dom Pedro Machico in the last eight years and it hasn't disappointed us yet. We highly recommend this hotel."

"Location is peaceful with magnificent views, walks and a slower pace. The price is competitive and the meal plan is worth the extra money - delicious fresh food. Call the front desk and ask for Francisco a kind local taxi driver for trip to Funchal or airport run. The local Cam bus can take you many places on the cheap as well. The charming chapel near the property surprised me on a Wednesday night with a beautiful church service with the local Machico residents singing like angels! The hotel is dated is areas but the positives make up for this. Till next time Madeira - I just may retire on your beautiful island, God willing. Lynn - USA"
