Quinta da Casa Branca

"The gardens were lovely and the hotel was very quiet and peaceful. The garden rooms have a patio with 2 loungers, a small hedge between rooms and overlook the gardens. The rooms were bright, clean and newly refurbished. The bathroom was spacious but with no storage. I would have liked a shelf or cupboard for toiletries. The air-conditioning worked and wasn't noisy. There was plenty of choice of cold food at breakfast and hot food was made to order. We ate at the manor house one evening, it's expensive, but worth doing for the experience. The food and service were very good and we ate on the terrace outside overlooking the lawns. The reception staff were very helpful and arranged drivers to take us on tours of the island. The hotel is near enough to walk into Funchal but we got the bus one day and also used Ubers and taxis. There are lots of restaurants within easy walking distance. We came with Jet2s Indulgent Escapes which I would choose again, we were served straight away with a drink on the plane and had private transfers which I appreciated as we arrived at 9pm. We also had a late check-out and could use the spa to shower and change."

"We had not been to Maderia for a few years, so when hotel, flights and us all came together we booked a week there. We got a notification that the Hotel were having works done to bring it up to date, but it would be finished by the time we arrived. Having stayed at the Quinta Da Casa Branca before it was really great to return as soon as we walked into reception. The work done made it even better than before but kept what made us want to return. Great room, great pool, great gardens and really Great staff, we really enjoyed breakfast each morning sitting outside or in, it set you up for the day,. We ate out several nights as there was a wide choice of places to eat and not to far from hotel, two places to mention 3L's Making Memories "chicken kiev" and"lemon pudding" well worth having and The Atlantic, great views, cod or salmon washed down with a cold glass of wine watching boats go past."

"This hotel is an elegant, intimate 5 star without being pretentious. All the staff we met were attentive, professional, friendly and polite. The room was superb, the refurbishment clearly a success, and the dining outside for breakfast and dinner was a joy! The garden and grounds are just wonderful and you wouldn’t think you were in a busy capital. Sitting on the swing chair in the garden with a glass of wine was our favourite! 25 minute walk to the centre of Funchal was fine for us, but people who may have less mobility might prefer a taxi. We can’t think of anything this hotel is not getting right and will definitely stay again."
