Vila Ventura

Surroundings don’t get more scenic or serene than at the Vila Ventura. This charming hotel is tucked away in the peaceful area of Caniço de Baixo, around a 15-minute drive from Madeira’s cosmopolitan capital, Funchal. Traditionally Madeiran in design, the hotel flaunts terracotta rooftops and whitewashed facades, and it’s cocooned by tropical gardens.

You can experience authentic Portuguese cuisine in the hotel restaurant, and dine al fresco on the terrace when it’s warm out. There’s a lovely bar, too, for cocktail and wine sipping. The studios are fresh and simply decorated, with dark woods, cool tiled floors and gorgeous views of the greenery outside.
