The Four Views Oasis has a plum spot in Madeira’s sleepy Canico area, overlooking a pebbly beach and a short walk from the closest restaurants and bars. The hotel puts on a shuttle bus to the cosmopolitan capital, Funchal, which takes around 20 minutes.
The resort has a look and feel totally in-sync with the rest of the isle, with candy-coloured walls, terracotta rooftops and tropical garden surroundings. If you’re here to relax, you’re in for a treat. There's a saltwater pool in the heart of the grounds, fringed by loungers and thatched umbrellas. Stroll through the greenery and you’ll come to the beach, where there’s more of the same. Indoors, meanwhile, you’ve got a beautifully designed spa. Head here to work up a sweat in the sauna or steam room, or indulge in a full body massage in one of the treatment cabins.
A handful of restaurants and bars will keep you fed and watered. Acquamarina is a buffet-style eatery, with show cooking stations and dishes from around the globe, while Atalaia Bistro and Trattoria Calhaus specialise in a la carte menus, ticking off the likes of Italian and local Portuguese fare. Two bars show live sports, with one serving light bites throughout the day.
