"Almost all the rooms have black carpeting that makes them look old and dirty. Carpets are no longer used in modern hotels and are inexpensive to remove, so I don’t understand why they keep them. On the upper floors, the carpets have been taken out, but they have placed rugs under the bed instead, and I also don’t understand why they don’t remove those and simply leave the wooden floor exposed.
The room doesn’t have a central light switch next to the bed, so you have to get up to turn off each light individually. The air conditioning is extremely noisy. The windows were quite dirty during my stay, although the positive side is that they can be opened. Another detail that bothered me was the desk: the chair is uncomfortable, and the table surface is reflective, which makes it impossible to use a computer mouse without placing a piece of paper underneath.
The bathroom follows the current trend of removing walls and replacing them with glass partitions, which greatly reduces privacy. That’s fine if you are traveling alone, but I wouldn’t recommend it for couples. Another irritating feature is the shower. The showerhead is fixed to a rigid device that prevents it from being used like a normal handheld shower. It can only move up and down, which is very inconvenient. I have no idea why they designed it that way.
Breakfast is below the standard expected for a hotel in this price range. They have the basics, but they are missing higher-end touches such as pastries or baked goods. The fruit selection is limited (melon, pineapple, kiwi), with no options like grapes or mango that are common in upscale hotels. The live cooking station makes eggs but, for example, doesn’t offer pancakes.
The restaurant, there is only one, is also below expectations. Particularly annoying is that they charge a single guest five euros for a one-liter bottle of water.
Overall, this hotel was frustrating because all these issues are low-hanging fruit, small and easy improvements that could genuinely transform the experience of what otherwise has the potential to be a very good hotel."
