Sophisticated hotel in the heart of Lisbon

Santa Justa is one of the longest-running boutique hotels in Lisbon city centre, and is split across two elegant buildings connected by an external passage. It’s just a few steps away from the Santa Justa Lift, a Gothic-style iron elevator that connects the Baixa neighbourhood with the bohemian, hilltop neighbourhood of Bairro Alto.

It’s in a great spot for exploring some of the city’s most atmospheric and characterful areas on foot, with major landmarks such as Saint George’s Castle, the Praça do Comércio (the harbour-facing plaza) and Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara (a landscaped terrace offering fabulous views across the city) all less than a 15-minute walk away.

In addition to a generous buffet breakfast in the mornings, the hotel also has its own à la carte restaurant specialising in contemporary Portuguese cuisine and hosting live music a couple of nights per week. You’ll also discover a vast array of bars and restaurants in the nearby area, so you needn’t worry about finding places to eat, drink and soak up the local ambience.

As for the rooms, they all come with spacious, marble-tiled en suite bathrooms, soundproofing, a free mini bar and free-wifi, so you’ll have all the comforts and conveniences you need for a wonderfully relaxing city break.

Find out more about Lisbon City

The sun is almost always shining on the coastal capital of Portugal, which is why holidays to Lisbon City simply glitter with possibilities. Famously set amongst seven hills, there are views aplenty to enjoy. And that includes those about town - the city is known for its thriving art scene, with major galleries and independent artists contributing to an artistic culture that spills out onto the streets, and even underground. Since the first Metro stations were built in the 1950s, the entire system has been decorated with colourful and eye-catching artwork. You'll also want to admire the astonishing scene of the Vasco da Gama Bridge, the longest bridge in Europe. So long in fact, that its engineers had to factor in the curvature of the Earth. However you experience Lisbon, it's one city that's bound to take your breath away.
