"We chose this hotel as we wanted to be in the older part of Lisbon and have a lot of the places which interested us available nearby as well as being accessible on foot or by a short trip in a taxi. This hotel ticks all those boxes and we were very happy with our stay. Below is the pros and cons list we created.
Pros:
- Mini fridge in bedroom (bottled water €3 & snacks €6).
- Room cleaned very well daily with a changing of towels.
- Smaller hotel. More personal experience with fewer guests.
- Decent air con in room.
- Safe accessible in room.
- Comfy bed.
- Nice, modern, and contemporary design.
- Good location.
- Good viewpoints nearby due to being higher up on the hill.
- An open outdoor terrace which would be nice in summer.
- Good breakfast choices.
- Interesting Fado show, which is worth your time.
- Attentive staff.
- Good bar with a decent selection of drinks.
- Mini market down the street nearby.
- Entertainment evenings.
- Tea and coffee free in the rooms.
- Nice view from the room windows.
- Quiet and peaceful with no noise from any traffic, pedestrians, or local bars & restaurants.
- Complimentary welcome drink.
- Good bluetooth speaker in the room.
- Clean hotel.
- The hotel has character with some exposed stone sections, hailing back to its time as a bakery (i think).
- Elevator/lift available.
- Handful of English TV channels.
- Shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, vanity kit, shower cap, shower scrub mitt, dressing gowns, and slippers can be found in the room.
- Water refilled in the room every day.
- Option to store bags in the reception if you have a late check out.
Considerations:
- Hidden away. We got dropped off on a different street by our taxi driver. This could be more to do with the taxi company rather than the hotel, though.
- Thin walls/ceilings - every step could be heard from the occupants in the room above us.
- If you put the 'Do Not Disturb' sign on your door, you'll get an email asking you to let the reception know when they can send someone to clean your room.
- No area to dry clothes. No radiator in the room (heat managed through A/C)
All in all - we would return here, and we would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in the Alfama region of Lisbon.
Thank you for making our anniversary special and going the extra mile."
