"Visited in October with my dad and brother. We required a family room and were worried about how this would be set up. We received an apparent style room which a twin room and then a sofa bed in the other room which also had a small dining table in and then a kitchenette off of it. This was exactly what we needed. The beds were comfortable, room was clean and kept clean during our stay and rooms were spacious. There was a bit of a lack of plug sockets but this is if I’m being really picky. Rooms are dated and furniture a little shabby but not a huge issue and still good value for money. There is free WiFi, the air con worked well and yes, there is a hair dryer (I wanted to know this before I stayed)! Yes there is tourist tax to pay, this was €72 for three people in one room for six nights. The hotel were also happy to look after our luggage on the final day meaning we didn’t have to find baggage storage in the centre and our cases were locked in a secure luggage room.
The pool area is small but very nice although was understandably, freezing…in October. We did get in once just to say we’d been in the pool. The breakfast area is very small and I recommend arriving as early as possible. Breakfast is served 7-10.30am. There wasn’t a huge selection; cereals, yoghurts, cakes, pastries, scrambled egg, toast, sausages, bacon, tomatoes/ mushrooms and beans. It was however fine for the time we were there and wouldn’t put me off returning.
Staff were mainly helpful and friendly although we did have an incident with one female staff member who was very rude and made us feel very uncomfortable. Perhaps she was having a bad day.
The location is ideal, it was around 15-20 minutes in a taxi from the air port - we booked an Uber when we were ready to be picked up and only waited about 10 minutes. The hotel isn’t in the centre of town but the main areas are easily accessible via public transport, taxis and it’s about 25-30 minutes to walk. Uber is very cheap in Lisbon so we ended up using it most days for ease and most journeys were around €5 for 20 minute rides! It meant we could see a lot more of Lisbon in the short time scale so I would definitely recommend utilising this. Walking into the centre is mostly downhill but walking back and therefore; uphill… was a bit more of a challenge (still doable by the way).
There didn’t seem to be a supermarket or corner shop which was particularly close although there were a number of restaurants 2-3 minutes away. I especially recommend “ Madame” which was just down the road and left. There is also a McDonald’s on the same road as the hotel which is open until midnight which came in handy too, even to grab a drink to have in the room after the walk from the centre.
I would have no issues returning the this hotel and for the price we paid, we were overall very satisfied with our stay and I’d recommend this hotel if you’re looking for a base which is away from the busy centre but still want things to be accessible in a short space of time, Thank you to the staff who were accommodating and helpful.
