Hotel Borges Chiado

"If I could give this place ZERO stars I would .The so called breakfast was terrible and non-edible .The staff in the place were the unfriendliest we have ever had the misfortune of meeting .To say the staff were the worst we've come across would be true except the COCKROACHES in our room took the title just .It would be something if the owners actually taught there staff manners , they just walked into our room as if it was theirs .Staff should knock, but no, this staff member did not knock , they just walked in , not once but twice and told us to leave as they wanted to clean the room , they even fought over giving us coffee sachets for the room . Then there was the singing and busking going on until about 1 am in the morning . Really good for a restful sleep. The room should have been a twin, we arrived to a double bed which we had to unzip and separate after 12 hours of travelling, the room was very small, well it was more like a cupboard. Sitting on the toilet, you had to sit sideways or your knees were pushed on the door. We loved Portugal but due to this experience we'll not be returning . The days of good customer service in hotels is certainly not shown here on checking in we did not get a hello just a barked passports, and on leaving the receptionist did not take his eyes off the computer screen or acknowledge the key card we placed on the desk. Rude staff , Cockroaches , noise outside and a cupboard to sleep in oh and a tepid warm shower , absolutely terrible and disgusting"

"Had a 3 night stay here. Loved the room but the air conditioning could’ve been better. The hotel is pretty big and the location is great. It’s right above a metro station. The staff checked us quickly and provided guidance. Our room was spacious as was the bathroom. The beds were a little firm but not a deal breaker. There are tons of shops and restaurants nearby including McDonald’s. It’s walking distance to the Praca De Commercio. Would Recommend"
