"Found this hotel online . We went back to this location in Lagos as had honeymooned in the area 36 years ago . We had a lovely welcome on check in and received champagne and fruit plate to our room with hotel compliments , which was a lovely surprise . We chose the hotel as we very much Wanted to be close to beach with sea view . The hotel inside was beautiful , very comfortable , very very clean , modern but alas abit sterile and void of any personality . The same I would say about the staff . The restaurants and breakfast room staff were friendly but not over welcoming . The food served in this hotel is excellent , Lovely fresh breakfast choices and we had a fabulous dinner on one evening in the restaurant . But absolutely no atmosphere or staff interaction . Poolside snack/bar area very bland serving very boring food and overpriced drinks . This was open until 5.30 or 6. The restaurant opened at 7.30pm so between 6 and 7.30 there is no access to food in the hotel … I mean nothing .. unless you want a cocktail from the cocktail bar .. where they only have 1 brand of beer , 2 types of white wine and 1 red wine … o and I was rudely informed they vino verda is not a white wine !! So that means they have 1 type of white ! Our room was clean on arrival but they were slow to service . Unless you asked . 36 years ago we walked around this area . However we now found the area dark at night with very little street lights .. couple of restaurants within walking distance but we were unsure walking around using our phones as torches . One tiny little beach grocery shop within walking distance . The indoor swimming pool is quite small as was the gym area . NO SAUNA open during our stay . So we were very disappointed with this aspect of the hotel as we were staying very late October . On a positive note we due get to relax and read alot as there was not a sound in the hotel due to fact it was empty !! You may well ask did we not complain etc .. no we didn’t .. there was no point , we spoke to couple other guests who felt the same . We all felt this will be a good destination eventually … we were just there in its very early stage … I will try to add photos"

"Hotel was very nice aesthetically. However, we found many issues with our room including the bathroom door not being able to shut due to a water leak, the shower itself was broken and the floor was not completely sealed so water constantly seeped out. Hotel refused to do anything about this. Staff are incredibly rude and unprofessional. They assume that guests do not speak or understand Portuguese and will mock them while mumbling to one another. I am Brazilian so i could understand. Regardless, even if you didn’t know any Portuguese you could tell that they were seemingly unhappy making our stay quite unpleasant. Generally speaking, the food was horrible and breakfast definitely needs improvement. All in all, i would say it’s nowhere near a 5 star hotel."

"Lets take the positives first. The hotel is nicely situated out of the old town (about a 15 minute walk away ) - its very close to the cliff walks and some beach's. The hotel itself is very clean with nice swimming pools both outside and one inside. (its pity the steam room and sauna weren't working) There are some really top class local restaurants close by. The breakfast staff at the hotel were really nice and friendly and so were the house keeping staff. I did have to get and ironing board and iron delivered to the room as there was none there. Breakfast was good except the hot meals of scrambled eggs and bacon were usually warm and not hot. Also the queue for coffees and teas often was a delay - cant imagine what it would be like in peak season. We had dinner there one evening and to be honest it wasn't close to being a 5 star. My first encounter with the front desk was nice but I had requested months earlier to have my wife's sister room next to ours but they did not accommodate us. If I knew this was going to happen I would have booked a different hotel as there were plenty of rooms available at the hotel for that time of the year. Otherwise the front desk staff were pleasant."
