Mirachoro Carvoeiro

"This was our 4th time at the Mirachoro hotel. The room we were in had been refurbished and it was lovely. The bathroom still needs to be refurbished. A walk in shower would be great. The staff are all lovely and friendly. The breakfast is delicious, it had a variety of food on offer. From cereals, various breads, bakery items, bacon eggs, sausage, cheeses, ham, salami, avocado, yoghurt, fresh fruit etc..... plenty of choice of teas and coffee. We will be back again next year. We definitely recommend."

"Our first trip to Carvoeiro in over 10 years and we wanted a hotel which was an easy walk to town. Found the Mirachoro and booked it straight away Location is amazing, an easy walk down a slight slope with plenty of nice bars and restaurants to the left and right of the hotel The hotel is soooo clean, classy decor and with the exception of the female receptionist who was very grumpy and unhelpful on arrival, ALL the rest of the staff were exceptional so friendly, chatty and remembered us! Our bedroom was spacious and clean, yes the bathroom needed an upgrade but it was large and the shower was really good Buffet breakfast was excellent with a nice selection On our next trip we will definitely return"

"The hotel has a lot going for it but I question the full 4 star rating. For: The hotel is well situated for the many surrounding restaurants. The entrance and foyer created a good first impression. We had an adequate bedroom with a reasonably large balcony and a pleasant view over the town to the distant sea. There was always hot water available in the bathroom. The pool area was good, with plenty of sunbeds and a good bar. The outside areas were reasonably spacious and well kept. The indoor swimming pool was a plus. The bar/lounge was large and modern, with comfortable furniture. My wife found the hairdryer good, a surprise after all the bad reviews. She thought it might be a new one. Against: Unimpressed when the cleaner turned up at 5.30 pm for our first room cleaning, while my wife was in the shower. The room cleaning service and quality was erratic. It's some time since I've stayed in a 4 star hotel without a kettle etc in the room. Fortunately our ancient travel kettle still worked and the seemingly inadequate fridge kept a carton of VIGOR brand milk fresh for 10 days. Amazing! Paying for a room safe in a 4 star hotel is becoming unusual. The space between the coffee machines and servery, in the breakfast room, was inadequate. Breakfast was sufficient but I've had better in 4 star hotels. I found the coffee bitter, so instead of my usual black cafetiere or espresso, I had to add milk to make it anything like palatable. I found the whole breakfast experience similar to that in a busy, city centre, Premier Inn. Our room was tight on space between the bed and the wardrobe. The bathroom was small. I addition to a small table the balcony had 2 hard, plastic chairs, that were not designed for comfort. We found the bed too hard but I realise that is a matter of preference. The sun loungers had no adjustment or padding."
