Vila Recife Hotel

"We have passed this hotel many times and have been impressed with its appearance and location. As we only got three days' notice that we could go on holiday, we decided to book here. The reception staff were very welcoming and we were immediately impressed by the number of cleaning staff working away to keep everything clean. Our room was a reasonable size with comfortable beds, plenty of storage space and a small balcony. The bathroom was well equipped with almost instant hot water and the most powerful shower I have ever come accross if you turned it up. Bonuses were a pool and two large sun terraces along with the terrace/bar at the front of the hotel. We stayed B&B and the small dining room was light and airy, and the buffet breakfast was excellent but with, in our opinion, two small improvements needed. First, the toaster was the slowest and strangest design I have seen as when the toast was eventually done many people (including us) ended up dropping it on the floor which became a source of amusement. Secondly, it is difficult to keep a hot buffet warm and a microwave oven would have been useful to re-heat the food on occasion. A lot of reviewers have mentioned the noise. There are two bars accross the road at the front and the main town square is only a five minute walk away so there will be some noise but it didn't adversly affect our stay. The hotel is NOT noisy, PEOPLE are! Perhaps a few signs in the corridors asking people to keep their noise down might help? Overall the hotel was very good value for money and we had a very enjoyable stay. We are currently checking flights for next year and will be booking again asap."

"Superb at the right price. Staff really friendly and helpful- Hamza, Halli, Romina and Muna مُنى. Rooms like Premier Inn, pleasant and very clean. Levels 4 & 5 best, with possible sea views. WiFi sem problemas. Local bars & Brits abroad can get a bit boisterous into the early hours (par for the course). Buffet breakfast great value. Fill your boots and no need to eat later in the day. Pool small but sunny (just head for the beach imho). 5-10 mins downhill walk to the beautiful Peneco and Pescadores beaches. Magnificent views from the elevator platform. Crystal clear sea 20 degrees, perfect for swimming. Beaches sandy & clean (and great for shell-collectors). Wall-to-wall sunshine everyday. 22-32 degrees in October 2026. Family friendly resort, many local Portuguese families, French, Dutch, German (even Yorkshire, God's own county, t'old lad). Tasca d’Alkhaz restaurant in the Old Town afternoon specials €12 for delicious, authentic food (frango piripiri or porco deliciosa) plus 1 litre Caneca. €3 for dois pastel de nata at the corner café. €4 bottle of tasty local red wine at the nearby supermercardos. Night life in the Old Town is English/Irish sports/karaoke bars. Nevertheless, an evening stroll is enjoyable, after catching the gorgeous sunset from Praia do Pescadores (listen out for the local finches’ beautiful evening chorus). Albufeira is still (unbelievably) authentically Portuguese and very picturesque. Absolutely loved it. Até para o ano!"
